basically will another update read needy/desperate/creepy or not? my gut feeling is to wait till next month.
Are you already on the WL?
yeah, i was included in the WL wave. i know that one of the biggest weaknesses of my js1/app was my lack of a full time position/commitment, so now i'm desperate to show H that i'm not a total bum...

In regards to sending additional LOR (this applies for any school that you're WL at):

1) is this a good idea if it's a strong LOR ? (I'm a k-jd with nothing at all exciting to notify them about in a LOCI so I'm scrambling for material)

2) Do we send additional LOR through LSAC or can I have the LOR sent to me and then I fwd it to the school (or do I have the recommender send it to the school email directly?)

If it's gonna be strong, why not? However, I'd only do it if 1) you know that who the recommender is will lend serious weight to the rec, or 2) they're gonna lay crazy praise on you. Another "I like this student and think they'll do well in law school" probably won't move the needle.

Have the recommender send it. That's what I did because I didn't want the slightest notion that I'd seen it before hand to come into Harvard's thinking. Have them send the recommendation to the LSAC so it'll be on file, but the recommender should also email it to the admissions office with your LSAC# on it. Harvard confirmed with me and my recommender that they got it via email and added it to my file.

Thanks - great advice. I will definitely do this.

Now I have to gauge whether or not it will be strong. I mean, I knew the guy pretty well as he was my advisor + chair of dept + high level class that I got an A in etc etc but who knows how strongly he will word it. Maybe i'll be shameless and tell him my situation and ask if he can write a crazy strong letter ?

It seems like this is a near perfect combinations of traits for a recommender. If you don't mind me asking, why didn't you include this person initially? My assumption was that most new academic recommenders would be from classes taken this year.

Honestly i thought it was a cliche to ask a dept chair and I didn't want to him write the letter from that POV. I had two other strong recomennders (so I think... ) that taught me recently. One teacher I took for 2 semesters, two A's, top student, lots of oral debate so she knew me, etc. The other teacher actually made us compete for an A with the promise that the top 2 students in class (who got A's) were "awarded" a strong letter of rec from her. It was a persuasive philosophy class and she was pretty brilliant so I went for it.

haha. I guess I'll ask that guy now though!

Damn... You're rec options seemed to be at least 170

Hey all!

I haven't had any formal resume updates (and I've been out of school for a bit) - but I have been working on a couple of pretty substantial projects at work.

Has anyone done a LOCI that's just like - hey I've been doing interesting stuff since my app went in, tho it didn't come with a title change?

Thanks!

Checking in. Waitlisted just now.

170/3.82

Should I send my LOCI as my "reply to this email indicating your desire to remain on the wait list"

Also breaking news from Boston - 2 explosions at the finish line of the Boston Marathon. I can hear ambulances from my office.

Ok edited for the real story: I was there. I totally did not want TLS to judge me for posting right after the incident, but the first thing I did after getting evacuated was check my phone to see if my friends were ok - naturally I see an e-mail and there was my Harvard WL. The moment I got that e-mail I went back to law-school mode, trying not to think of the scene.

I decided to share this after talking to my friend, who rightfully told me that lying over the internet is stupid.

And to those wondering: yes, there were severed (or missing) limbs or digits, and yes there were shards of glass everywhere (I got one on my thigh) and most importantly - yes, people were trying to help.

Oh my gosh, that's terrible! It looks like no one knows that caused the explosions yet.

As for your question, I sent my LOCI as an attachment in an email separate from my "yes, i would like to remain on the waitlist" email. I'm sure sending your LOCI in the body of waitlist response email would be fine as well though.

Me too, post JS1. 170/3.9x. It was always a long shot, but it feels like I was so close...

I figure I'll reply to the waitlist email with my LOCI? Can someone let me know if thats not the right thing to do please.

Also, would it be appropriate for a LOCI to sort of fill in one of the gaps from my JS1? I felt like there was one thing I could have expanded on that would have knocked it out of the park, and I kind of missed the opportunity. I dunno. Any thoughts?

I feel like that is exactly what a great LOCI should do, though subtly.

On that note, did you guys receive any sort of confirmation after responding with "yes, I want to remain on the WL"?
Yea. It was a few days later though.

Yeah really put a damper on my e-mail. As I read the e-mail I hear ambulances in the backdrop and my co-worker goes "explosions at the Marathon". Yeah. Never had such a conflict of emotions at any one moment. Makes you realize how small law school admissions are compared to the insanity of the world.

Has anyone had their WL JS1/KB1 yet? Any news to report? I know there were a bunch this week.

People reported back around page 11 and 12.

I think the only noteworthy thing was the report that decisions shouldn't be "expected" before May 1.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
