Anyone attending the Miami event this week? I RSVPed but I'm most likely withdrawing, so I'm not even sure I should attend. Their scholarships are a joke.

Check out law school numbers.... Unless they're holding back until later to spread the wealth, it's most likely they're just stingy. Furthermore, the practice of once-only scholarships is bizarre in comparison to any T1/T2 schools. There are many admitted students on this thread with 75 percentile stats and above that haven't been duly awarded.

Considering the cost of living in DC, American is shooting itself in the foot by not opening it's coffers. Unless of course they just don't have the endowment to do so, which is a sad but plausible explanation.

One thing that has been in the back of my mind is that their acceptance letter explicitly states that they typically award merit scholarships in March. I really wonder what their strategy is.

So apparently, if one is waitlisted and then accepted off the waitlist, that individual has 24 hours to pay a $900 seat deposit or else the law school will revoke the acceptance.

Every time I hear about a new AU admissions policy or strategy I'm blown away that they somehow think their policies attract students.

Don't get me wrong, the school does some real great stuff which is what drew me to them as an applicant, but their admissions practices are laughable and have ensured that I will withdraw unless by some miracle of god I get a full-ride (...yeah...right).

I didn't keep track of specific dates, but I applied the first week of December, but I think I I went complete 1/4. Sorry, I hope that's helpful!

I was in today as well with similar #s...it was actually quick for me, applied 2/10 and got notice today. Kind of surprised they went that fast.

Anyone else having a weird decision situation with American? My application went complete on 11/10, and I have a 167 with a 3.67 and still haven't heard. A lot of people with worse numbers who applied later have already gotten in. Frankly, I do not plan on attending American since I already have been accepted to a few better-ranked schools, but I don't really understand why I haven't heard back yet. Anyone else had a similar experience?

American is famous for YP. Withdraw your app if it's bothering you that much.

Yield protection. In short, it's a numbers game they play to try to accept only students they think might actually attend. And don't worry, I'm right there with you, waiting, above both medians.

Lurker here. No way you don't get into at least one T25 school with those number as a URM. You probably got YP-ed at American or they're just being dumb. Stay positive

I would agree. American seems to have been doing a lot of YP'ing this cycle. I wouldn't take this as a sign of things to come.

Thanks for the kind words, all. I agree that this cycle has seemed particularly wacky in terms of American's admissions methodology (judging from posts on TLS). That said, I still wasn't thinking I had the numbers to be subject to YP from them. Also, I'm Puerto Rican URM - I've heard PR is a weaker boost than MA or AA. Don't know what to think at this point, but I still have 15 decisions from t25 schools looming on the horizon. Thanks for helping me stay positive .
