Re: University of Alabama c/o 2016
I would be very interested in finding out the make up of the pool this year if they are in fact having an app increase. Is their increase a result of low end applicants casting a wide net due to the buyers market or are a lot of splitters using Bama's generous scholarships as negotiating tools? Oh, to be a fly on the wall of the admissions office.

In with a nice 5 minute phone call from Dean Brinkley. She really was nice and made an effort to sell the school, in a good way. Got a nice scholly but with a 40% stip, with 10K guaranteed for 2 years if I fall out of the top 40%. Hard to weight that against non-stip schollys. She also said they'd fly me out and pay for a hotel if I want to visit.
Very impressed so far, but what is the story when it comes to negotiating stips?

Take Becca up on her offer and go visit the school. Once you meet Becca in person and see the law school you'll absolutely fall in love. No dean will ever treat you better than Becca. She's awesome!kayleighcheyenne wrote:I tried. Did not succeed. But no harm in trying at allironbmike wrote:In with a nice 5 minute phone call from Dean Brinkley. also when speaking to her they seemed very receptive to the idea of matching any scholarship that any other school was going to offer me. Though i think it all depends on stats.

Wow, sorry you had such a long wait. Mine didn't go under review until too long ago and its so late in the cycle I'm just waiting to hear back from Bama and SMU now. Sorry you had to wait that long, but glad that your status finally moved!gatorgirl2012 wrote:Late January...this is not a lie.ChadMichael wrote:When did you application go under review?gatorgirl2012 wrote:PFCD! Re: University of Alabama c/o 2016
I just did a triple-take to confirm, but I've got status checker movement! Update to 4/15, still pending final committee decision. This is my third such update (1//7 & 1/25). I would LOVE for this to be an indication of movement similar to that post-deposit movement on April 11th last year. Anyone else? Good luck as always.

Congratulations! Were you Pending Final Committee Decision before the call? Did you have a recent status change? I know I shouldn't fixate on these things, but I'm keeping fingers crossed for movement and had a status update for the first time in three months on Monday. Congrats again!cowboyup wrote:Admitted via phone call yesterday (4/16)!

Thank you very much! Yes, my Application Status was Pending Final Committee Decision for about two months before I got the call. However, I did not have any recent status changes until it changed to admitted yesterday. Hope this information helps and you get some good news soon!crossingfingers wrote:Congratulations! If anything it means that their committee convened and made some decisions. Hopefully more of us will here from them in the coming days!

Pending Final Committee Decision is like being on death row in Texas.
Current status date is in February lol. I really think they forgot about me
Bama was a long shot, and I actually am really surprised I wasn't just flat out rejected.

Re: University of Alabama c/o 2016
Are they just waiting until people pull out and take other offers? It seems like an odd strategy to NOT reject anyone. Cockteasers.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
