Congrats to everyone admitted this cycle! I realize this is a bit off topic, but I'll be applying to UW for fall 2014, and I am working on assessing my finances. I am curious if I would be in the running for any merit scholarship:
In state
GPA: 3.81 (at UW-Madison, Mech. Engineering)
LSAT: 164 (162 avg)
I realize every admissions cycle is a bit different, but any anecdotes from the newly-admitted would be greatly appreciated!

75th or above for both, you should be looking at a sizeable scholarship.wisc130 wrote:Congrats to everyone admitted this cycle! FYI - I just got my financial aid "award" which is a very strange way of saying the federal direct loans I was approved to take out.
I let them know I was attending via the online form and paid my seat deposit (although from what we were told at ASW I don't think you have to pay the deposit to get this info). I submitted the FAFSA on 2/28 and got confirmation on 3/1.
Since there are a lot of us olds - I did get approved for the maximum ($20,500) despite having a decent income last year (actually through July).

Be weary of the word "sizeable" when it comes to UW and scholarships. UW is very tight on money. If your in state with those numbers, I'd take a guess of $5-7k per yearluxurylawyer wrote:75th or above for both, you should be looking at a sizeable scholarship.wisc130 wrote:Congrats to everyone admitted this cycle! Regular but very late (~4/7) applicant. Impressed both with the speed of the turnaround and the nice phone call from the Dean earlier today. I'll be visiting next week.NoMistakes wrote:were you waitlisted or just a regular acceptance? congrats!!nba101790 wrote:Accepted today!

Re: University of Wisconsin Madison c/o 2016 (2012-2013 Cycle)
Longtime lurker here, but first time posting ITT. I was accepted back in March and declined my offer of admission earlier this month. But I am hoping for some advice from this board. I have received, so far, two emails regarding financial aid information from the UW law school at a completely incorrect email address. They were actually both been received by my father, whose email is one less letter than the secondary email I included on my application. While I am on good terms with my parents, I am financially independent and have been so for a few years. I have double checked everything I sent and I did not mistype either of my email address.
I emailed the UW Law School about this situation, sending confidential information to an unauthorized third party, and two weeks later they have basically said they will need to look into it. Not even that they are, but that they will need to. I'm not going to this school at this point (for more reasons than just this), but I'm still frustrated both that this happened, and they they don't really seem to care.
I'm wondering is anyone has had a similar experience? I'm trying to decide if I should let this go or not... Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Anyone have any news off the waitlist yet?
I sent an email April 1st asking about when they expect to have movement on the wait list, and got this in reply:
"Thank you for taking the time to reiterate your continued interest! There are no current changes in the waitlist, but we will let you know if your status changes.
Please do not hesitate to let us know if you have any other questions."

I called them today and asked about any movement but I all my questions were answered with "we don't know at this time."
I wonder how many people they are going to take off the WL this year. I looked at previous yrs and it seems to vary. Planning to ride the waitlist till the end?

I will probably ride the WL until they reject me. WI is my top choice and, at the moment, the only law school that makes sense for my situation.

They still aren't done reviewing regular applications so I would imagine it is going to be a while yet.brewcrew7000 wrote:Anyone have any news off the waitlist yet?

At this pace, I am getting skeptical about getting off the waitlist .....
