Joining the 166 club. I was so dismayed looking through past LSN cycles and seeing all the scholarships for applicants with 167+ scores but pretty much nothing for 166 and under.ams929 wrote:Same. I really don't think it means anything beside that your application is being looked at. USC is really, really, really slow for everyone. Sadly.TheThriller wrote:just got to committee first read. Does not bode well

I'm basically furious about the 166 because 1) You aren't actually allowed to be all that unhappy about it because 93% of people did worse than you, but 2) It's like right under the threshold that gets lots of money. Sigh.

For the record I'm thinking 169 is the worst good LSAT score known to man.

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
and 166 is also right below the threshold for acceptance for USC, not even scholarships, with that damn 167 median.
166 is the worst score IMO if you're in cali because you are JUST below getting into the better schools in cali, and i mean that term relatively (USC, UCLA), good enough to get into the "okay" schools (Davis, Hastings) but with not a lot of money to make it even worth it.

180 is the worst score because then you feel obligated to move to New Haven, Boston, or Stanford, which have to be 3 of the worst cities in the country.

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
fee waiver issue, any advice?
Retook LSAT in December, and did well enough to earn some fee waivers from T14. E-mailed 'SC with the new number, and solicited a FW, but received the standard response (posted on the website): we give them to those above both medians. Since I'm below their GPA median, I took it as a, 'no way'.
Went ahead and paid the fee and submitted app through CRS. Approx. 24 hours later, received an e-mail from 'SC: congrats on the score, yada, yada, and offering a FW. At the bottom was the fine print: if you have already paid, thanks for the donation, bcos we don't give refunds...
Almost like a bait-and-switch to me. (Yeah, I get that it is likely different departments processing paperwork, but still...)
Suggestions TLS'ers?

Re: USC c/o 2016 Applicants
you might get something like 20,30 if you are below a median but not a lock. The only hope is the collapsing apllications will force the median down to 166 but that's not likely at least not this year.

well damn, i stand corrected. I have a lot of friends/family living around there and all live in Palo Alto, or if they do live "in" stanford refer to it as Palo Alto. still wouldn't set foot in new haven though.

Much of the Yale campus is lovely and they have a great art museum. The rest of the city is depressing as hell.

My dad used to joke that the Yale PD was bigger then the New Haven PD because their job was to keep people from New Haven out of Yale.
ANYWAY, any USC students in here? What's it like? Minnesotan living in Texas now so I know nothing about LA save for an increased chance of Emma Stone seeing me in a cafe and falling in love.
