i read somewhere that they sometimes give $$ to finalists, even if they don't get the full tuition scholly. I'm interviewing for the Anbryce at the end of March, then they're flying us to the ASW. Are they not doing the same for you all?forward wrote:Thanks, all.mel2010 wrote:Congratulations, very jealous!forward wrote:RTK FINALIST!!![]()

Two questions when you get the chance: did you write a supplemental essay or use your PS, and are you going to the ASW this weekend?
I submitted with both a PS and a supplemental, but both focused heavily on PI experience/topics and what in my life motivates that commitment. I write well, so I figured it could only help.
I'm not going to ASW this weekend. I was hoping to, but they haven't issued stipend decisions and I've been awaiting those. I was laid of from my (PI) job in January, so money is a bit tight. I may try to make the next one, but to a certain degree, the ASW doesn't matter; if i were to get the RTK, I'm going. Period. If I don't, it might be hard to turn down other $ offers for NYU, especially with COL. Either way, there are two more ASWs and time for an individual visit if necessary. I'm still determining my schedule of ASWs.
Does anyone know if NYU hands out $ to the named-schollie finalists that aren't selected?

Re: In at NYU
They are flying, yes. I might do that weekend, but I was supposed to go to Michigan's that same weekend. I'm torn. Mich offered money, and if the RTK doesn't pan out, I'm not sure what I'm going to do. I hate how so many of these weekends overlap. It's a nice problem to have, I suppose, but it's a schedule nightmare.pixytree wrote:i read somewhere that they sometimes give $$ to finalists, even if they don't get the full tuition scholly. FWIW, I've seen several posts from past interviewees saying that even people who don't get the final offers tend to get a generous Dean's scholarship. Good luck either way, thanks for answering the questions!

Lovely! I´m now all excited about NYU so it would be sad times to walk away if I don´t get the final offer.mel2010 wrote:FWIW, I've seen several posts from past interviewees saying that even people who don't get the final offers tend to get a generous Dean's scholarship. Yeah I know. I'm in this really weird place right now where I'm thinking NYU with AnBryce, Penn without, so I don't want to get too excited for either option so I'm not too bummed. But it's sooooooo hard not to!ChriLa425 wrote:Lovely! To anyone coming to ASW tomorrow, make sure you join us all at the bar tomorrow night. You'll get a gage of how relaxed NYU students can be, and can determine if that's something you like or don't like!

Y'all are ending tomorrow with a "pizza party" or something of that sort. There will be a few current students (including me) who will lead you from the pizza place to the bar we will all be at.thecilent wrote:Do you know what bar you're going to?Stanford4Me wrote:To anyone coming to ASW tomorrow, make sure you join us all at the bar tomorrow night. Re: In at NYU
Any word on the area-specific scholarships yet? I have yet to do the needaccess website and I am worried that I am out of the running. Last year, some of them were announced around this time. This may be stupid, but how do we "identify an option, area-specific program" for the scholarship? I feel so lost.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
Now there's a charge.
