This late in the cycle it is not likely...without URM status.DeeCee wrote:not necessarily true-- I have a 157/3.95, OOS and applied on fee waiver, and I'm white and part Cuban (semi-URM) with great softs. Got offered an interview for the leadership scholarship, but I turned it down and withdrew. If you have URM status/good softs/great application you have a good shot.NCtoDC wrote:It is just to help their selectivity ranking. You will most likely be dinged. Save your $12. Plus you will not get any scholarship money.lawschool12345 wrote:i was just emailed today and granted a fee waiver. I dont know if im going to apply considering how late it is in the cycle, but theysaid i have until april 1st
i have a 3.65 and a 158, so im not even sure why they would grant me a fee waiver, and im oos

Maryland moving on up... sort of. 48-->42. Does this upward movement mean anything to anyone? I look at it as good momentum for next year, when Maryland could be ranked in the 30's again. But then again, who really gives a shit.

Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
I attended one of those accepted student chats and a lot of people asked about merit scholarship info. It seems like they only have one scholarship, the Leadership Scholars Program. Most of us got the offers within a day or two of our acceptance letters in the mail, however Maryland says that if you want to basically make a case for yourself as to why you should be considered for a merit scholarship, you can send them a letter of interest. They say everyone is considered and they are still in the process of notifying finalists. Hope this helps!Eagles_Legendz wrote:Got my acceptance letter today.
Any idea when scholarship info may become available?

that jump in rank will make the people who were already leaning towards or set on maryland happy, but it shouldn't affect the decisions of those who were already set on going somewhere else.2things2 wrote:Maryland moving on up... sort of. 48-->42. Yea, plus the movement in ranking means nothing.lsatextreme wrote:that jump in rank will make the people who were already leaning towards or set on maryland happy, but it shouldn't affect the decisions of those who were already set on going somewhere else.2things2 wrote:Maryland moving on up... sort of. 48-->42. This really shouldn't affect anyone's decision no matter their inclination.

I've been complete since early Jan. Feels like I'm on an invisible, pretend waitlist. Wish they'd give me a decision already!

Did you actually expect any? Maryland is perhaps the stingiest law school around.gens1tb wrote:My financial aid award does not include a single penny of grant money...

MOST schools do not give out need based grants. Generally all the "financial aid" you get are federal loans...then Grad Plus for the rest.lsatextreme wrote:so does Maryland not give out any need based grants then?
Even those who get scholarships generally don't get more than 5k a year. I believe the ABA data said the average award was 3k/yr.....for UMD

A 146????? I'm surprised you were considered! You meant a 164, right?mizzjasmine07 wrote:I am on the "regular waitlist" with a 4.0GPA in criminal justice/sociology and a 146 lsat. pretty pissed off, i wanted maryland--guess ill be going to wake

it's exactly what i said: i got into wake which is ranked 38, better than maryland anyways- don't be shocked that i was considered. a 146 is what i got with no studying. your try keeping a 4.0 all throughout undergrad.DeeCee wrote:A 146????? Re: Maryland 2011 Applicants
just looked at your profile, congrats on the 3.9 your lsat score isn;t anything to brag about either. simply "average"- if you had a 160 or above i'd see why you have a reason to make arrogant comments, but you don't. fyi: i'm on the same UVA waitlist you are, with that 146DeeCee wrote:A 146?????
