i was just emailed today and granted a fee waiver. I dont know if im going to apply considering how late it is in the cycle, but theysaid i have until april 1st

i have a 3.65 and a 158, so im not even sure why they would grant me a fee waiver, and im oos

anybody have any ideas about this?

It is just to help their selectivity ranking. You will most likely be dinged. Save your $12. Plus you will not get any scholarship money.

not necessarily true-- I have a 157/3.95, OOS and applied on fee waiver, and I'm white and part Cuban (semi-URM) with great softs. Got offered an interview for the leadership scholarship, but I turned it down and withdrew. If you have URM status/good softs/great application you have a good shot.

This late in the cycle it is not likely...without URM status.

Maryland moving on up... sort of. 48-->42. Does this upward movement mean anything to anyone? I look at it as good momentum for next year, when Maryland could be ranked in the 30's again. But then again, who really gives a shit.

Got my acceptance letter today.

Any idea when scholarship info may become available?

I attended one of those accepted student chats and a lot of people asked about merit scholarship info. It seems like they only have one scholarship, the Leadership Scholars Program. Most of us got the offers within a day or two of our acceptance letters in the mail, however Maryland says that if you want to basically make a case for yourself as to why you should be considered for a merit scholarship, you can send them a letter of interest. They say everyone is considered and they are still in the process of notifying finalists. Hope this helps!

so my application went from "in review" to decision made as of 3/17..yet the date listed on the app status site was 3/18. hopefully i will receive my letter in the next few days. anyone received letters lately?

MOST schools do not give out need based grants. Generally all the "financial aid" you get are federal loans...then Grad Plus for the rest.

Even those who get scholarships generally don't get more than 5k a year. I believe the ABA data said the average award was 3k/yr.....for UMD

I had a status change on Thursday around 3:00pm. 3/17..however it said on the app checker that a decision has been made on 3/18-being that i live in VA i hope i get the letter today!

I think it is a rejection letter, some of the people that have PM me have had below avg numbers =/ I was hoping I atleast made it to the waitlist =( I will update the forum with the decision. I live in Miami, I should get it tomorrow.

it's exactly what i said: i got into wake which is ranked 38, better than maryland anyways- don't be shocked that i was considered. a 146 is what i got with no studying. your try keeping a 4.0 all throughout undergrad.

just looked at your profile, congrats on the 3.9 your lsat score isn;t anything to brag about either. simply "average"- if you had a 160 or above i'd see why you have a reason to make arrogant comments, but you don't. fyi: i'm on the same UVA waitlist you are, with that 146
