So with everyone on this thread applying, I KNOW I'm not winning even with 75%+ numbers haha

But who knows maybe they'll like me!

I'm going to submit the app just because I have legitimate interest in the school, and I want them to know that. I think the app at least protects against a YP. Maybe give them incentive to give me a different merit scholarship?

Anyone have a similar mindset?

Exactly what I thought when I got mine today. I also wished it was magically a rejection-sized envelope instead containing an acceptance haha

Mine came in the mail today.

I am kind of conflicted about applying. While a summer placement is nice, I want to go into public interest so a spot at skadden would be wasted on me. Maybe I'll crank out the essay when avoiding finals this weekend/next week and see what happens. A paid trip to Cali during the hellish michigan winters doesn't sound so bad.

I read an interview that said of ~6000 applicants, ~1000 receive the invite, and ~350 apply. I think those stats were from Fall 2010.

yay i got a Rothman invite! I didn't think my numbers were good enough, but I do have some really great softs. Kinda making me think I should have applied to schools ranked higher than Texas.

I'd definitely e-mail them. I got mine the day after I applied.

I have pretty darn good numbers (law school predictor says admit) and I haven't even gone under review. It's been a month. I did go complete after 1 day though.

According to info in this thread, about 1/6 applicants are invited.

To the poster that asked about admissions chances when invited for Rothman: I read on the AD Know a Dean series at USC they invite Rothman applicants through a CRS search, so it doesnt seem like it has any bearing to your application (though, their CRS search probably would be parameters that make most invites probably Auto Admits). This explains the one person that got stringed along and ultimately dinged.

this has been discussed at some length, not just here but in last year's thread. the general consensus is, yes, it is a good sign. alas, one fair lass with auto-admit numbers was WL'ed, even after being a rothman finalist. so while it is better, perhaps, than not receiving one, it certainly does not guarantee admission.

"How do we select candidates to apply? In addition, to selecting candidates who have already applied to the law school program, we utilize the Candidate Referral Service through LSAC to select students who fall within our profile group. Test scores and undergraduate GPAs are the primary pre-selection criteria we use when inviting candidates to apply. We typically invite about 1000 candidates to apply. For fall 2010, we had about 350 candidates submit an application. The application requires candidates to write a one to two page essay and submit an resume. Essays are reviewed by a committee of admissions staff, faculty, current Rothman scholars and members of the Rothman family. In late March, four finalists are flown to Los Angeles for a one-day interview."
