seems like that is the case. a couple posters above said their acceptances were delivered by the postal service.

That's what I'm wondering... My roommate said there was a slip in our mail today that said someone in our apartment has a large envelope waiting in the office... I sure hope it's what I think it is! But I definitely haven't gotten an email so I was curious about this as well...

I recieved an email about 10 days after i was "accepted." The email basically welcomed me to ND Law but was written under the assumption that I had already gotten the letter (i had not). It was a very good suprise. Anyway congrats to everyone who has been accepted. Hopefully the class will be starting to take shape soon.

curious what people got offered....obviously this isn't as nice as the IU: Bloomington scholarships so I wanted to know what people were doing.
I got 54k, which I am pretty happy with.
45k with 170/3.8. anyone know how open they are to negotiating?

I read on the admissions webiste under financial aid (second paragraph, last sentence) that they do not match or consider scholarship offers from other schools. --LinkRemoved--

To others who are interested - I also received the email today. They were probably expecting me to receve the packet of materials today too but because I live so close, my good news came early!

Congrats to all of you who have gotten in!

email said I was accepted. package is on the way.
I did not submit a Why ND essay, but I did include a paragraph in my ps which has the same function. and I did call to check something this week, so a polite calling is ok.

Thank you so much! I really appreciate everyone's kindness. I was a little leery to admit I got in. Like I said before, my #'s are not particularly impressive and I didn't want any resentment.

That said, I have a question about scholarships (let's say hypothetically, I got one). If it says "good academic standing" does that mean passing? Is there really not a minimum GPA requirement? I know they don't rank their students, but what about a curve? I mean, hypothetically, assuming this applies to me. 8)

Notre Dame doesn't publish class rank, but there is still a curve.

"Good academic standing" sounds like the same language UIUC and IUB used, and in both cases, that pretty much means "not flunking out". At UIUC, it's a 2.0, and IUB it's 2.3. To get that kind of average, you'd basically have to be at the bottom of the curve in every class, so it's pretty rare. You might want to contact the admissions office just to clarify that's what they mean at ND as well, but the language is promising. :)

Congrats again, and don't let the haters get to you. On TLS, I know everyone likes to emphasize the numbers. And while the numbers are the biggest part of it, a really good story (and/or certain softs) can make up for sub-par numbers. Likewise, a lack of softs (and/or good personality) can hurt a candidate with stronger numbers. ;)

I e-mailed them regarding the status of my application and was told that decisions were taking at least 12 weeks and that I should be expecting mine in the mail next week. FWIW I applied on 10/31.

and to add my piece to this, your numbers are moot once admitted. ever hear people in college keep bragging about their SAT and high school GPA? exactly...no one cares anymore. welcome to the class, are you going to attend?

Thank you! I've heard that what I may lack in natural brains I make up for in hard work and "grit." I hope this will carry me through in law school as well. I very much want to attend. I would be insane to turn this down and would be extremely regretful if I don't go. I just hope I can financially swing it. Apparently I can't get GradPlus - I applied yesterday on the website - so this is a major problem. I assume that since I'm doing the stafford Direct Loans for undergrad now (I'm so poor I even qualify for subsidized loans) that I will also be able to take the $20,00 for law school. But with ND, this leaves me $4,000 per year short. Help!?

BTW - this really is me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYV5GEDPjbg

I called my dad on his lunch (at a factory)to tell him. After my Grandma passed away on Thursday, my aunt and I sat and went through a gazillion pictures of Grandma and Grandpa to put together a video memorial. My Grandpa passed a year before I was born - Grandma was my only Grandparent that I knew. Anyway, there were boxes upon boxes of pictures of Notre Dame. Everytime a relative or friend visited from out of state they would take them to see Notre Dame. I grew up so close to Notre Dame but the closest I ever got to a game was sitting outside to hear the band and cheering.

Grandma grew up so poor, during the depression. All her life she would take her pennies out of her change purse and put them in a coffee can. When I was around 10 every Christmas, she started giving me all the pennies she saved up during the year. So pennies always meant something to us. This morning when I woke up, I had my blue ND folder with the materials I got laying on my desk. There was one single penny laying on top of the folder. I started balling my eyes out. I so badly wish that I could have told her that I got in - but obviously she knows! I think I know where I'm supposed to be, I just have to make it happen.

My dad grew up very poor and went to ND for undergrad. He always manged to get the school to help him find a way to pay for it if he pushed hard enough. The impression I've gotten from him, his friends, and others I know who've gone there over the years is that this is not a school where they are going to let financial need stop you from attending. They want students who have your drive to do well and sincere desire to be at ND. Talk to the admissions and financial aid people and see what they can do for you. Be persistent and I'd bet they will find a way to make it happen for you. Your story is amazing, and once they hear it, I doubt they'd just let you walk away from ND because of the price tag.

Also, there are a ton of outside scholarships worth looking into. I saw this link in one of the threads in the financial aid forum:
http://www.law.yale.edu/admissions/outs ... rships.htm
These are not Yale-specific scholarships, Yale just happens to be the school who's compiled this list. Good luck!

Well, I was balling while I was typing it! I WILL make this work. One way or the other. I am so determined. I haven't come this far just to give up now. And Grandma pretty much told me (with the penny) that I must go! I mean, talk about divine! I was in shock! I've never experienced anything like this.

This is terrific! Thank you so much! I also did see that ND has a comprehensive list of external scholarships too. The only thing that scares me is I won't know if I have been granted any until after my seat deposit is due. I guess I will just take a huge leap of faith (I'm getting pretty good at that, anyway!)

Thank you. I especially appreciate everyone's kindness toward me in light of the fact others have earned a higher LSAT score than me. Maybe this is odd to say, but I already feel so welcomed by my future (prospective) classmates! I was so worried that because my story is atypical that I would not be received well. I hope the rest of the prospective students are as kind as you all!

And congrats to 1984sheepdog!
