Re: George Washington University Waitlist Pool
i'm beginning to think of two scenarios
1) they are surprised at the fact that they waitlisted me to being with.
2) they are going to e-mail me later since my last name begins with Y.

Just curious, have any of you deposited at W&M and would go to GWU if you got off the WL? (Just trying to determine the odds that W&M will use their WL this year as they're currently over-enrolled).

I'm thinking #1 for myself. With my numbers I'm really a shot in the dark; they rejected me outright two years ago...nooyyllib wrote:i'm beginning to think of two scenarios

Just curious how much is the deposit? And wow, due July 9th... I can't believe that considering other institutions only give you 48 hours.furiotoo wrote:No phone call, but received a congratulations email notifying of acceptance off the waitlist. My email was time-stamped 8:02am PST, so 11:00am EST.
Check my profile for numbers, but beyond those, I did have interesting/slightly unusual softs and WE, as well as a LOCI specifically targeting their Indian (Asia, not Native American) programs. I'm sure those worked in my favor.
Other important details: formal acceptance package being mailed tomorrow and deposit due July 9th.

Reject, furio, Aston - are you all in FT?
Thinking the part-timers (like myself) are out of luck on the waitlist...
EDIT: just saw reject's reply earlier that the email doesn't specify.

This isn't an official word but I've heard that students are admitted off of the waitlist without regard to PT/FT..

+1 - I was told that we are all on the same WL (not sure how it works but from the horse's mouth...)
I am PT as well.

Email didn't say how much the deposit is. I suspect that info will be in the formal acceptance package they are mailing. I may call tomorrow to ask, though.brittbee wrote:Just curious how much is the deposit? And wow, due July 9th... I can't believe that considering other institutions only give you 48 hours.
I only applied to FT (I think? I don't remember if GW had you specify FT only or FT preferred). Regardless, the email didn't specify, but I am assuming my acceptance was for the FT program.daagermy1 wrote: Reject, furio, Aston - are you all in FT?

I only applied to FT so I'd assume it's FT.
I'd take PT but I feel like they would have let me know if it was for the PT program.

I'm guessing that they wouldn't offer you PT. Dean Richard emphasized that they want to fill a PT class with people who will stay PT - and not just people who want to get in and move to FT at some point.Aston2412 wrote:I only applied to FT so I'd assume it's FT.

It sounds to me like the PT program might be full...fudge.

200k in debt you have to balance against average salary coming out.
GW median is 140 in the first year out. Live frugally and you've payed off your loans in 2-3 years, less if you're making more.
Admittedly if you have $ from another school with a similar starting salary, then it may be worth it.

As nice as it was to come so close anyone else a little peeved they had us by the balls just to ultimately offer us nothing more they had once we wereput on the WL a quarter year ago? I mean we have SO, families, jobs, other schools, and other life-altering aspects for an 8% chance of getting off the WL ..
I'm mad...

Well, I'm disappointed, but not peeved. If all of us we're going to get in off the wait-list, they'd have just admitted us from the get go. We're fighting an uphill battle here, and we're the ones trying (albeit passively for the most part) to win them over at this point - not the other way around. Congrats to all of you who got in, hopefully some of us will join you later. For now, we will just cry over our puddles of milk.
