I love how one guy posted something that wasn't a reach, and then right after somebody posts a very legitimate reach to the same school. Could you give us more details please, H2O? Re: I made it into my "REACH"
I was not trying to brag. I guess I need to brush up on the rules about what a reach is. I considered CLS a reach since my GPA was <25%tile.CoaltoNewCastle wrote:That is absolutely not a reach. Did you look at any of the admissions predicting sites, or LSN? What is your index, 3.5, 3.4? Congrats though.swc65 wrote:GPA: 3.45 , LSAT 176
URM: Y/N, if Y then which type

Columbia

-Great PS. ED. Strong upward grade trend.
Sent in Late October/Early November
Edit: I think we should also add what month you sent in applications.
Edit: I know it's really tempting to post in this thread, but don't just brag about admissions that you're proud of that weren't reaches. I'm kind of sad that I can never post in this thread. Even if I get into Yale, I can't consider that a reach. Obviously it's a good thing though that I can't post in this thread, as fun as it would be.
My index was low 3.3 and I am tied for lowest accepted GPA on LSN.

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
So the official result is:
No reaches got in anywhere. All supposed reaches posted on here had either High LSATs, High GPAs, or were URM.
There are no reach admits. That's my 2 cents.

It looks like this guy was close to the 25% percentile at Columbia in LSAT and below the 25% in GPA. He isn't a URM either.GPA: 2.77

Re: I made it into my "REACH"
I think it does happen, but very, VERY infrequently. Certainly much more infrequently than dean interviews would suggest. And it's not really the schools' fault, with numbers being such a huge part of the rankings. I just wish they would be more honest and say that the numbers are what matters, and outside of some ridiculous soft that only applies to 1/2000 applicants, your numbers will dictate your cycle. The "holistic admissions" thing, outside of a very few select schools, is a lie.miamiman wrote:outside of TLS, a very close friend of mine was a huge reach at a T15 or so. got in with money. miracles happen.
Edit: I don't know what the school and numbers were, so I can't comment on that particular reach.

True. I get on here and freak out over all the Accepted threads. Knowing that I haven't heard anything (or little). Then I realize that this is TOP Law Schools, and the people posting are WAY ahead of the curve.r6_philly wrote:Actually most people haven't applied yet.TOMaHULK wrote:May be too early in cycle.
