I was so super excited when I saw an email from UF this morning, it was just an update letting me know I SHOULD NOT call the admissions office. I can't help but look at the phone and start to dial.

I find this consistent with bad form UF admissions continues to show. Don't call us we'll call you. Sort of sounds like you were waitlisted so we didnt want you much so don't bug us and wait and see if we will do you the honor.How many people on waitlist actually call. I haven't called at all. Just tell those that call not to. Why insult the rest of us.

I was waitlisted I think officially back in the beginning of May, got my letter and sent it about May 14th. I got an email from UF saying they have first deposit due on the 15th and it usually takes two weeks to process all the people who paid and who didn't. What I read from this is that they'll start sending Waitlist updates around May 29th (two weeks after first deposit), but you could get accepted as late as the day before classes as well.

I would be surprised if it took until the end of May. They already know who will be getting the first calls from the admissions department and it definitely doesn't take two weeks to figure out who paid and who didn't...they already know

If they already knew for sure, they would be making the calls. Admissions offices don't just sit on their asses and torture us for kicks. They want to accept people as soon as possible, because the more time passes by, the more their waitlist thins out, and the less qualified applicants they have on their bench.

was this continued interest confirmation letter different from the waitlist update #1 that I received on Monday?

Very interesting. I faxed a LOCI on Tuesday and did not receive this letter on Wednesday. Apparently, in 1 day, they were able to identify waitlisted applicants who had and had not expressed continued interest. This tells me either the waitlist is not as lengthy as I thought or they have a pretty sophisticated record keeping system.

Just speculating, is it anyone's guess that if you received the email about continued interest that those are the likely candidates to come off the waitlist?
