Yea: 30k --> 75k. I had finally made peace with my decision to attend UCLA... Now I'm confused, but this is all good. Not sure what I'll do. They extended my deadline to Friday.smdpnp wrote:Holy shit! They more than doubled your award, right? Dear Michigan: if you are so desperate for solid applicants that you feel the need to throw more money at people who have turned you down, how about you take a look at your waitlist and give a few splitters and/or late applicants some love?qwertyboard wrote:Is it normal for M to be chasing after students like this? you're a fucking moron.BigZuck wrote:I withdrew today (with 54K) and they just gave me the standard "Good luck with your future endeavors" response. Didn't try to keep me by dangling that carrot. Found it interesting, maybe it's because I only have median numbers? Or because I already asked for more money? Oh well.

I think it makes perfect sense. It's a way for them to avoid wasting money on people who might choose Michigan at sticker or for a lowballed scholarship offer. I'm sure many admits got duped and took the sticker/close to sticker offer thinking they just weren't good enough for money, or more money. Those of us who balked, Michigan then opened its wallet for. They profit from holding back until we balk.qwertyboard wrote:Is it normal for M to be chasing after students like this? "hey! If the $200 or $300 isn't an issue today, I don't see how it could. For that small sum, if it could save you thousands, easily worth it. Also, if you aren't completely set on Michigan at the current price - having the choice is well worth it.CTT wrote:So, I got there letter acknowledging my deposit. The last bit explained that it was OK to have multiple deposits, and they would contact you to see what they needed to do to make Michigan your choice if you had multiple deposits at the beginning of Summer. I'm toying with submitting some other deposits just to see if I can work out an extra bit of scholarship money. Plus, there's a little bit of utility in preserving the choice. Stupid idea?

Nope but I got an email asking to tell them if they could do anything to change my mind. Felt a little like a form letter though. Phone call's pretty sick - what'd they say? PS - congrats on getting your dream school to pull through with the money!twinkletoes16 wrote:Anyone get a phone call from M after withdrawing?![]()
