Waitlisted. 174/3.87. Well, that's sort of perplexing, but it wasn't a top choice, so I'm not too bummed. Looks like, from the numbers above, that applying late really does hurt you at Chicago. I'll be withdrawing.

Hey julia, I've been curious where you think you'll be headed?? I think it was pretty bold and admirable of you to withdraw from Harvard based on fit (plenty of tools would've gone into it blindly, including me).

I feel that this is really an unfortunate part of how applicants are evaluated. But when my WL email said "At this stage in the application process, we regrettably must waitlist many outstanding applicants" I was wondering if that was what they were implying - especially since this is a form letter they send to all WLed applicants.

Although not a top choice, I was actually kind of hoping for some scholarship money. Should have submitted a "Why Chicago" essay if I wanted a chance at that, I suppose.
