Tomorrow's going to be a little bit heartbreaking knowing that ASW is happening 30 blocks south of my office and I haven't gotten into NYU (yet?).Swimp wrote:...go on...Lavitz wrote:TLSing from ASW lol.

Does NYU provide any sort of stipend to do a campus visit?

Everyone seems pretty cool. The guy setting up the tours was really nice and my tour guide definitely reminded me of Elle Woods. Current students we randomly ran across were pretty funny. Prospective students are fairly diverse and I was the only New Yorker in my tour group. They list our undergrads next to our names in the guest list and on our name tags and, as I expected, it seems like most people went to a much more prestigious or well-known undergrad than I did.Swimp wrote:Any highlights so far? My lunch wasn't very satisfying so that's all I can think about right now.
Does it live up to its "low key" vibe?

Ok, story time: I actually went to the dentist right before coming here, so I didn't actually eat any of the food. (Also, my mouth was still numb when we started so I couldn't even talk much lol). With that said, it looked like it was mostly burgers and fries. Looked tasty, but not something I'd usually eat unless they were turkey or chicken burgers. I'm sure they probably had some vegetarian options but I didn't really bother looking. I'll check when I go back now.
Yeah, seems pretty low key and down-to-earth.

Lol'd at being called a hipster. It's all about the protein-to-fat ratio, bro. Any overlap with the hipster community is purely coincidental.
But I should probably stop posting during this student panel.

NYU doesn't deserve you anyway. Unless they match Cornell, of course.Lavitz wrote:Lol'd at being called a hipster. It's all about the protein-to-fat ratio, bro. Any overlap with the hipster community is purely coincidental.

This should settle all of the NYU vs. Columbia nonsense.

I assume they're mostly trolls, but the comments have me concerned that there are people out there who legitimately think that NYU and NYLS are in any way related.

Thanks. They probably won't get close enough, but it was still worth the visit.ohpobrecito wrote:NYU doesn't deserve you anyway. Unless they match Cornell, of course.
Final thoughts: class was cool, there were no identifiable gunners. Current students I spoke to were very friendly, and those at the student panel re-emphasized how "normal" everyone here is. They also shared quite a few encouraging anecdotes w/r/t employment prospects.
Don't really know what else to say. People can PM any specifics, but I'm not sure how much I can say considering I was only there for 4 hours. Other admits can probably give more thorough reviews.

And vegetarian burgers with feta cheese. I tried everything but the Turkey burgers, actually. Had a good time… unfortunately had to leave early (for dinner with a friend who lives here), but excited for tomorrow!KingFish wrote:But there were turkey burgers!
