Got an acceptance call at 4:30 pm est (I missed it) and just saw the e-mail a few minutes ago. Also just got back from abroad yesterday so...I really haven't been paying attention to anything haha so it was definitely a welcome surprise.

I'm starting to think that the reason they take so long for some is because they have a more personalized rejection process where they actually explain in a letter why they didn't admit the applicant. That has to take them awhile to compose thousands of personalized rejections? Sitting at 1/17 1st UCR w/ a 12/2 complete. Yikes!

Also, my rejection definitely wasn't personalized. Just congratulated me on my accomplishments and said I'll do well wherever I end up. Oh well.

Waitlisted about half an hour ago.. I am honestly not too upset about it. Penn was never a top school for me and I only applied because of the fee waiver. Anyway, I just formally withdrew -- to everyone else on the WL: stay optimistic! I heard Penn pulls a decent amount off of it each year, so best of luck!!

Now, a question: what were your UCR dates? I went complete 1/3 and had my first 1st UCR on 2/17, but I've seen that some 2/17ers updated today...trying to figure it out. Thanks in advance.

I am thinking that those who did not update today, and have not so hot numbers will probably be dinged soon? I am seeing those with much better LSAT scores around 168/169 be dinged without a W/L ... so it isn't too hard to predict my outcome. Closure would be nice .. so I can move on and troll on other threads (Duke, UVA)

I feel for you and believe I obtained the same "cookie-cutter" response. I was really surprised that it was barely a few sentences long. Hm, make sure to check out my DING BAR post. I saw yours as well and thought we could revel in this BS. Best of luck with the remainder of your cycle!

Unfortunately I never followed the status checker for Penn as I knew I had no chance anyway : /

My general policy is that since no one can predict the admissions process with 100% accuracy, err on the side of encouragement. There are strong trends, yes, but there are also anomalies and idiosyncrasies.

Unfortunately, I thought I had posted on my first UR date, but I looked back through my posts and I obviously didn't because I couldn't find it. And then I've been out of the country the past 2 weeks so I never checked my status checkers.

I am really sorry about that. I mainly responded because of the other dude who was giving you bad advice/information and I really hate when people do that.
