Re: University of Florida
Guessing the new rankings shut down the"FSU is going to surpass UF" talk. Good job in getting back into T1.

Where are the new rankings? Or what rankings are you referring to?

Re: University of Florida
After emailing with the admissions office, it's apparent that a huge percentage of the WL movement will be after the 5/15 deposit deadline for students already admitted until the beginning of June. If you have not heard by then, your chances greatly decrease.

Quite obvious, but, I emailed UF admissions several days ago and they told me that the waitlist will not begin to be reviewed until after May 15th. FWIW

I don't think LOCI's matter at this point. Best bet is to find a successful alum and have them write you a letter of rec aimed specifically at Florida Law or have said alum drop a line to someone above admissions... a prof perhaps.trialjunky wrote:ram jam wrote:Quite obvious, but, I emailed UF admissions several days ago and they told me that the waitlist will not begin to be reviewed until after May 15th. The absolute MISERY of waiting really sucks. Waitlisters how many LOCI's have you sent in?

Letter came in today. Small, white envelope letting me know I'm WL'd. Ah well. Good luck to everyone.

I don't seem to remember being invited to any dinner. Guess I'm not quite up to those standards.fcowrx wrote:+1scottstot wrote:I'll be thereSean Bateman wrote:Anybody going to ASD on Friday?

Anybody get any financial aid updates? I'm kinda curious to see what other people are getting for need-based aid.

Earlier this week I received a $10,000 need-based grant for my first year.farewelltoarms wrote:Anybody get any financial aid updates? I'm kinda curious to see what other people are getting for need-based aid.

wow, 10,000$$$ that's awesome. I've always thought its weird though that they give non renewable grants, as if suddenly people become wealthy their second and third years...GatorGirl1230 wrote:Earlier this week I received a $10,000 need-based grant for my first year.farewelltoarms wrote:Anybody get any financial aid updates? They give it all up front hoping that it will allow you to pay off loan interest over your three years. Their logic, not mine.

What qualifies an individual to receive need-based aid for law school? Is "Need-Based" a disguise for a merit-based grant?GatorGirl1230 wrote:Earlier this week I received a $10,000 need-based grant for my first year.farewelltoarms wrote:Anybody get any financial aid updates? Re: University of Florida
I submitted the application for the Need-based scholarship and grants, so I think it was based more on financial need than merit. I have extra costs that wouldn't be covered by the cost of living alloted by UF, so I don't know if that was a factor. Whatever it was, I will gladly take the grantram jam wrote:What qualifies an individual to receive need-based aid for law school? Completed the financial aid form on 4/7 and haven't heard back yet, though the school is asking me for proof of citizenship and I need to do that in person for whatever reason. Hopefully the financial aid office can tell me something at the ASD on Friday.

Re: University of Florida
I did some back and forth scholarship negotiating with UF showing them my other offers and I ended up getting a $15k grant. I doubt my financial need (including parents income/assets) was low enough to merit their maximum grant amount. I think that a lot of schools throw around need-aid in a similar fashion to merit aid. Also, my numbers were 167/3.55 and I was originally offered nothing.ram jam wrote:What qualifies an individual to receive need-based aid for law school?
