When you guys got scholly, did you get a financial aid award letter with the entire package or was there a separate email with just scholly info?
I'm trying to figure out if what I got was just a response to submitting the fafsa and if I might still get some scholly.

Mine was separate. I can't imagine that's changed since last year. You guys need to quit freaking out. I didn't get my final scholly offer until the middle of June.

In other news how many people are attending? Looks like 200 matriculated last year... Probably about that amount attending if you add those attending but on the fence about attending?

Lol. That's great you could wait until June, but for a lot of people, decisions need to be made before then. SO will have to find a job wherever we end upMarkinKansasCity wrote:Mine was separate. Just got the email for the financial aid award letter, with the breakdown of loans and scholarships. Does anyone know if this is the final scholarship offer? Or will awards still be reviewed later. Thanks

I got my initial offer in March, and my SO is fortunate enough to work in a job where she can telecommute, as long as there's an airport reasonably close. If you really want to get biggest scholly you can, the waiting game is where it's at. You want to play the negotiations right up until you run out of time, including requesting deposit extensions. You don't want to leave money on the table. Unless your SO makes bank, you'll be better off financially get more money out of the school. How much can your SO make in 2 months? If the answer is less than ~20k, then scholly negotiations are more profitable.jk148706 wrote:Lol. For sure I wish I could wait longer. And I was being sincere when I said it was great you could wait (wish I could). But my SO is in a career that requires her to secure a job months in advance. She cant, say, get a job in her field in October. It's unfortunate to some extent, but that's why I've been wanting to see scholarship info from schools.MarkinKansasCity wrote:I got my initial offer in March, and my SO is fortunate enough to work in a job where she can telecommute, as long as there's an airport reasonably close. Well, don't tell the admissions people that. Make a decision based on a projected outcome, and then pretend you're still trying to decide. You could be moved in and settled telling them "I just want to make the right decision financially, and School X would be cheaper/has better outcomes/whatever. Any additional aid would really help with this decision."jk148706 wrote: For sure I wish I could wait longer. And I was being sincere when I said it was great you could wait (wish I could). So, on my financial award letter, I received some of my loans in Perkins loans. I thought all law schools were just Stafford then GradPLUS. My understanding is that (very small) amount on the Perkins has a fixed 5% rate and doesn't accrue interest until I enter repayment. Anything else I need to know? Is this common at law schools?

Full tuition scholarship offer on 2/28. Was in Spam folder as well, which was weird as all my WUSTL mail went to inbox.

perkins funds at most schools are more limited than the other loan products, so they are reserved for the highest-need students generally.yossarian71 wrote:So, on my financial award letter, I received some of my loans in Perkins loans. the loan is in deferment status (no interest) until you graduate or drop below half-time status, and then you get an additional nine month interest free grace period after that.
there are some good cancellation benefits as well, not much for attorneys though unless you go work in a public defender/DA office.

Did people's status checker change post-interview? I did my interview exactly a week ago (which I thought went great) but my status is still Application Documents Received 2/18/2014. I'm not freaking out or anything, just curious.

I did my interview this week and now it reads Application Documents Received too. Except my date changed to reflect the interview date 3/4/2014. I am sure there isn't much to read into. We will all probably hear back soon.ponyboy7 wrote:Did people's status checker change post-interview?
