I applied RD end of October and still have not heard. Guess they really are unsure as to how much they like (or dislike) my application....

Me. Applied the first week of November. I guess it's not the worst thing to still be waiting considering my numbers, though.Inconceivable! wrote:Has anyone who applied in November/December still not heard?

Not that this seems to mean anything, but are you still sitting on your original complete date?

Congrats to all of the recent admits! I never applied to NU, and I kind of regret it now. Do you all think it would be too late to throw an app at NU at this point?

Woot! Got my admit notice today (actually got the news from an email confirming my mailing address, congratulating me "again" on an admittance letter I hadn't seen yet
). Also got callbacks for two different temp jobs for the summer - it's been a good day.
edit: I was also an early Feb. submit.
edit2: answered my own question about the Fin Aid forms - for anyone else in the same boat, NeedAccess forms aren't due until March 1. From the 2013-2014 financial aid form on their website:

Any idea if this applies to Fin. Aid forms as well? Already submitted FAFSA, but my parents are dragging their feet on their half of the NeedAccess forms so I haven't been able to submit those yet. If not, then how screwed am I, and is there someone I should email about it?snapdragon25 wrote:Well yesterday they extended their app deadline to march 1, so no it's not too latejdadmiss wrote:Congrats to all of the recent admits! Held.
Way better than I was expecting though, considering I've been waiting since early December and they're not exactly ushering in 169s with wide open arms.
169/3.16/Non-URM
Congrats to everyone who got in today though!

Hmm can someone enlighten me as to how I should feel about being "Held"... is this better or worse than waitlist? Should I operate as if it is a waitlist? ...When can I expect to hear definitively?

I think strictly speaking it is better than waitlist, but a lot of people on this site treat it as WL, some even go as far as to put WL on their LSN.StillIll wrote:Hmm can someone enlighten me as to how I should feel about being "Held"... is this better or worse than waitlist? Time to brush off the keyboard and bang out an LOCI.

Ok. So now that's 3 WL... 3 LOCI to write .... oh the life of a splitter. 176 / 3.36 if anybody was wondering... WL at Duke, Virginia and now Northwestern so far. In at GW and U of Utah (hometown/undergrad school). Not stoked on all of these WL that's for sure.Micdiddy wrote:I think strictly speaking it is better than waitlist, but a lot of people on this site treat it as WL, some even go as far as to put WL on their LSN.StillIll wrote:Hmm can someone enlighten me as to how I should feel about being "Held"... is this better or worse than waitlist? Do you have work experience? That will definitely help at NU, and I bet you can get off the WL at UVA if you tell them you will attend if admitted. They YP with their WL like crazy.

Well the only work experience I have is at my internship turned job at the Justice Court in SLC. But I'm still in school, 16 credits this semester, so the work is only part time. I guess the answer is no, no significant WE. Lol.shifty_eyed wrote:StillIll wrote:Ok. So now that's 3 WL... 3 LOCI to write .... oh the life of a splitter. 176 / 3.36 if anybody was wondering... As far as UVA goes, incidently my cousin is getting married in that area in 2 weeks so I'm going to stop by for a visit at that point. I figure it will at the least give me more ammo with which to write a LOCI.
Clearly my delusions of getting any $$ from a good school have left at this point, I really need to start weighing the pros and cons of t-10 @ sticker vs lesser school w/ less debt (if I even get better than WL at any of these top schools).

Did you apply to NYU? They're another top splitter friendly school.StillIll wrote:Ok. So now that's 3 WL... 3 LOCI to write .... oh the life of a splitter. 176 / 3.36 if anybody was wondering... Also, if riding the WLs doesn't work out, with your numbers you would have been in at NU if you weren't K-JD for sure. So if you decide this cycle isn't worth it you can just work a year and have a basically guaranteed spot at NU.

Yes...I am waiting for all those AJDers who aren't fully committed to NWL to leave, so I can get off the AJD waitlist. Argh.

Yeah I applied NYU. I applied to pretty much most of the top 20 schools. Not quite K-JD... I have a year off between freshman and sophomore years. But I wouldn't exactly call what I did for that time period "work experience".mrizza wrote:Did you apply to NYU? They're another top splitter friendly school.StillIll wrote:Ok. Waiting a cycle may be a route to go, good enough grades this semester will get me to above a 3.4, which I've heard it a quasi-GPA floor for some schools.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
