The later it gets in the cycle, the more they start to email decisions, and follow it up with a VCE. When I was accepted, I got an email.

Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
So I was sent a reserve email recently and my numbers are autoding. Can I spin this as a positive and say this is better than if they outright rejected me? I am considering taking the LSAT in June (will most likely) and also writing a LOCI soon.
Should I mention the LSAT in June since I'll probably be waiting into the summer anyways? Any advice/input would be appreciated since I am very much reaching with this school.

Reserve=ding at Columbia. They waitlist everybody and their grandmas. Not so much a fan of rejecting people.superhopefulwoo wrote:So I was sent a reserve email recently and my numbers are autoding. Depends on your numbers. If you really are below both medians and non-URM then it's not looking good. But of course give it your best shot especially if you would have regrets if you don't.superhopefulwoo wrote:So there is pretty much 0 chance to get in at this point and I shouldn't bother?BigZuck wrote:Reserve=ding at Columbia. Re: Columbia c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
I'm not sure if I'd be classified as URM for them since I know some schools will still give at least some boost to a Hispanic non-URM. I'm above their 25th but not median for GPA. I guess I'll give it my best shot cause you never know. Thanks for the info though, I'll have to keep that in mind.BigZuck wrote:Depends on your numbers. Just for the record, I received nothing via mail or email today. Submitted in September -- I will post when I get reserved/held.
