If we have to wait till Friday. Then we would have officially gone a month without kb1s.

I think this close to the admissions deadline it just makes more sense to wait until KB has all of the apps in and reviewed before moving on people. No sense interviewing a person you wouldn't admit if someone better came along, right?sharktankdean wrote:If we have to wait till Friday. Then we would have officially gone a month without kb1s.

It gives you more time to review applicants, schedule interviews and strategically make admissions offers which minimize acceptance rate and maximize yield and 25-75th percentiles. You can act pretty quickly to ding auto-rejects and schedule KB1s with very strong candidates that apply early in the cycle. A number of accepted will withdraw their application or accept before the application deadline, letting you better gauge the number you'll need to admit out of your remaining second tier pool.goldeneye wrote:then why rolling admissions?chucklesmcgee wrote:I think this close to the admissions deadline it just makes more sense to wait until KB has all of the apps in and reviewed before moving on people. So the thing we are officially waiting for is a JS1 now. Ok, closer to what I started with (JR1) so I am fine with that.planeride wrote:Surprised there's no been no discussion of this morning's blog post announcing the new Chief Admissions Officer...

I, for one, welcome our new JS overlords.
EDIT: Zomg, Bain! Gogo sneak to a Romney rally and have Romney sign you a LoR whilst thinking he is giving you an autograph.
In addition to this, she also says she will start working / reading applications / interviewing people next week. Bawww.

Remember, KB is simply the director of admissions acting as dean until a new one is found. If they've hired someone new, it would be necessary to train that person and get him/her caught up on the status of this cycle. Once that was completed, the cycle would pick back up. Just a thought...
They've done it before...KB took over for Toby Stock in the middle of a cycle a few years ago.

Does that mean that some people may end up with a JS2 after having received a KB1?Nulli Secundus wrote:So the thing we are officially waiting for is a JS1 now. Wow. So I wonder if we're now in for at least a few more weeks of waiting while JS gets caught up on all the pending files.Nulli Secundus wrote:So the thing we are officially waiting for is a JS1 now. Here's hoping her thought process is something along the lines of: "Well KB, you sure did a great job snagging those high GPAs, but I think what we really need is a heap of high-LSAT mediocre GPA admits. TheLong! You're in!"

Yo, KB! Ima let you finish but you made internationals hella sad this cycle, internationals are the best applicants ever!
ETA: JR trolled us by leaving right when the cycle was starting and KB trolled us further by recruiting someone else in the middle of it. If only they knew how more paranoid we get with each passing day, I bet they would just do these things in summer.

Re: Harvard 2012 applicants (class of 2015)
If this means she will be conducting the interviews, this might not be the best news. I feel bad for the first applicants who get her because her training as a consulting recruiter and a consultant (and a gunner Harvard graduate who had to go through some heavy competition within Harvard undergrad recruiting to get the job at Bain) might make her treat the first interviews like a Bain interview. That means you have to prepare for this interview, and I wouldn't doubt if she were severely disappointed with the first interviews. For the consulting world it's all about having your stories straight and eloquently stated, so the whole "tell me why you want to go to law school"" might be a bit more scrutinized by her.
Maybe I'm freaking out too much, and I'm sure people within Harvard admissions will let her know that these interviews are different from consulting interviews. Anyway, I would hate to be her first interview.
Edited: Realized she has an HLS degree, so it makes me feel better.

When KB took over mid-cycle, did she start doing the interviews? Or did they finish with TS?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
