I think this close to the admissions deadline it just makes more sense to wait until KB has all of the apps in and reviewed before moving on people. No sense interviewing a person you wouldn't admit if someone better came along, right?

then why rolling admissions?

It gives you more time to review applicants, schedule interviews and strategically make admissions offers which minimize acceptance rate and maximize yield and 25-75th percentiles. You can act pretty quickly to ding auto-rejects and schedule KB1s with very strong candidates that apply early in the cycle. A number of accepted will withdraw their application or accept before the application deadline, letting you better gauge the number you'll need to admit out of your remaining second tier pool.

So the thing we are officially waiting for is a JS1 now. Ok, closer to what I started with (JR1) so I am fine with that.

I, for one, welcome our new JS overlords.

EDIT: Zomg, Bain! Gogo sneak to a Romney rally and have Romney sign you a LoR whilst thinking he is giving you an autograph.

In addition to this, she also says she will start working / reading applications / interviewing people next week. Bawww.

It could be possible that the reason there has been an extended delay in the admissions process (especially in terms of sending out KB1s) is that they've hired a new dean. Remember, KB is simply the director of admissions acting as dean until a new one is found. If they've hired someone new, it would be necessary to train that person and get him/her caught up on the status of this cycle. Once that was completed, the cycle would pick back up. Just a thought...

They've done it before...KB took over for Toby Stock in the middle of a cycle a few years ago.

That was a different situation, though - Toby Stock was leaving, not starting... I really think that they're just waiting until today's deadline passes by.

Wow. So I wonder if we're now in for at least a few more weeks of waiting while JS gets caught up on all the pending files.

ETA: JR trolled us by leaving right when the cycle was starting and KB trolled us further by recruiting someone else in the middle of it. If only they knew how more paranoid we get with each passing day, I bet they would just do these things in summer.

If this means she will be conducting the interviews, this might not be the best news. I feel bad for the first applicants who get her because her training as a consulting recruiter and a consultant (and a gunner Harvard graduate who had to go through some heavy competition within Harvard undergrad recruiting to get the job at Bain) might make her treat the first interviews like a Bain interview. That means you have to prepare for this interview, and I wouldn't doubt if she were severely disappointed with the first interviews. For the consulting world it's all about having your stories straight and eloquently stated, so the whole "tell me why you want to go to law school"" might be a bit more scrutinized by her.

Maybe I'm freaking out too much, and I'm sure people within Harvard admissions will let her know that these interviews are different from consulting interviews. Anyway, I would hate to be her first interview.

Edited: Realized she has an HLS degree, so it makes me feel better.
