Someone go and obsess over the "updated" date in connection with the decision date and see how many of them updated by this time last year.

Wouldn't be very effective. "Updated" date changes to reflect when the applicant selects 'Attending,' 'Withdrawn,' or 'Deferred.' Most of the Stanford admits reported one of those at some point, so the "update" date reflects that change rather than when a decision was reported.
I guess one way to tell is to see if the decisions from all the other schools that the applicant applied to were updated at the same time. Then you would know if they released their cycle info when it was already over with, or before. But I would never spend the time mining for that data...

I seriously considered doing the checking by "updated" methodology before posting. I'm assuming someone else here is more neurotic than me and is actually going to do it. Here's some advance praise, whoever you are....

Someone should talk Aschup into asking Dean Deal.

Eh, simultaneously updated information could also indicate they reported withdrawing from their other schools at the same time they updated Stanford to 'Attending,' which seems to be the case with at least some of last year's admits. Best case, it's a spurious relationship.

Someone should ask that on the blog. Someone did last year at Harvard and JR responded.

Oh yeah. 3.69/179, I went under review on January 4th. I sent most of my app materials in on December 6th, but my Dean cert didn't get in until January 4th.

Sorry about this. I went UR on January 5, and I'm a bit frightened.

To those of us still waiting to hear back:
Should we be submitting our financial aid stuff (I think only Need Access for Stanford) in advance?
It seems very out of order but I don't want to miss the deadline just in case.

It appears that number of Stanford applicants on LSN is also down significantly. So either LSN participation as a percentage of total applicant pool is down, or the number of applications is down significantly.
hope it is the latter...
Why is my file still not "under review"? I submitted late January, complete 2/14.

Does it say that your file has been submitted to the committee for review? It doesn't change from that (except to "decision letter sent").

Ah, no wonder. I thought "submitted for review" was the same as "in the gigantic stack waiting for review." Pretty nice not to have been dinged yet, one month later.

My phone is always on. ALWAYS.
We need special ringtones for the SLS admissions office. Any song ideas?
I'd say "Don't Stop Believin'", but at the point the phone rings, you better start. Maybe "A Moment Like This" by Kelly Clarkson
In song-related banter, Dean Deal's phone should be set up with Gaga's "Paparazzi", considering the premier-level stalking that goes on

Classic Kretzy.

Trust that most quads of 4 law students feature better decorations than this one.

. Also, Stig, thanks for outing our undergrads!
