ANY merit scholarship? I thought that darrow made you ineligible, but the partial dean's scholarships didn't. Am I wrong about that?meryl wrote:I got accepted a couple weeks ago and considering withdrawing. Merit scholarship makes you ineligible for need-based grants, which really put UM in the bottom of my list.

I had the same statement on my Dean's scholarship letter. UM took a big hit in my book on that one.somewhere wrote:ANY merit scholarship? Yes, any merit scholarship. It states in your scholarship letter that you cannot apply for a need-based grant or negotiate your merit scholarship.somewhere wrote:ANY merit scholarship? I applied mid-December, got my status checker on January 20, and am still waiting to hear. I have a feeling it varies person-to-person. Hoping mine is a "still waiting to see if we like you" delay that will culminate in an acceptance rather than a spot on the waitlist.jrose5 wrote:Hey all, was wondering what UM's turnover time is... Based on the last two years of LSN, it looks pretty dismal for those of us who haven't heard yet--unless you have truly stellar numbers or are in state.

It seems to me like they have been SUPER slow. I guess WL mostly comes out in March?NorCalBruin wrote:Based on the last two years of LSN, it looks pretty dismal for those of us who haven't heard yet--unless you have truly stellar numbers or are in state.

From last year, a large batch of WL came out the last week of Feb. So I expect the first round of WL comes out this Friday.DeeCee wrote:It seems to me like they have been SUPER slow. Hard to say if they are going slower this year than last.
that said, a MASSIVE BUM LOAD of waitlists came out on the 26th last year, which would correlate to the 25th this year... aka friday.

I hope not. I mean at this point, they already have a general picture of their applicant pool, and Michigan didn't extend thier app deadline.NorCalBruin wrote:Hard to say if they are going slower this year than last.

I received a fee waiver late in the cycle, so I just decided to apply for a year deferral. In response, they dinged me, but they gave me a letter with an everlasting fee waiver. I smiled when I read the letter.

I'm guessing a fee waiver that doesn't expire should he/she want to apply next year or the year after....? Law school numbers, I assume. If you don't know about it, it's a great resource for tracking cycles!ls24 wrote:how do people find out what happened last year?sarahlawg wrote:god I hope so. get it over with!NorCalBruin wrote:Hard to say if they are going slower this year than last.

For the record: I went back and checked my scholarship letter and it specifically says I may qualify for additional need-based aid. Maybe there's an amount cutoff?meryl wrote:Yes, any merit scholarship.
