Sooo I emailed my professor yesterday and asked if she needed anything else for my letter, and she asked for my "statement of purpose (or whatever it is that Law School's ask for that's basically an essay on your intentions)." But I already sent her my personal statement???? I'm gonna send her the final draft, but I am confused about what she wants to see. :(

I'd say, send her an updated personal statement and then a blurb in the e-mail about your career goals in law.
Or what if she's hinting that she doesn't think my PS is Why Law enough.

ETA - but yeah, thanks, that sounds like the right move..

So I have a ton of work that needs to happen in a short amount of time due to a major implementation coming up, but the client just told me they are leaving the office at noon today and that I need to do all of this stuff starting next Tuesday. Consequently, I have absolutely nothing to do today.

Duke, for the love of god, give me a response today.

Looking at an empty inbox and wishing I had some work to do!
I'll probably end up prepping for my tutoring student in a few minutes.

What about you?
My interns are starting next week, so preparing introductory materials/compiling jobs for them to do.

Who all has gotten into Duke so far? I'm generally avoiding the school-specific threads so I feel out of the loop.

Hi X, hope the first week of classes went well. I wanted to let you know that I just finished preparing my applications yesterday, so whenever you are able to write my letter I will be ready to submit.

I like the idea of using the fact that I just finished prepping everything as a subtle way to remind her, but I'm not sure if the second part sounds too WRITE YOUR LETTER SO I CAN SUBMIT NOW
Here's what I said:

"I hope the rest of your summer was lovely, and that school is off to a great start.

I've just finalized all of my application materials (ahead of schedule!), so I just wanted to check to see if there's anything else I can provide you with to help with the letter. Let me know!

Thanks so much, and have a great Labor Day weekend."

I think the "let me know if there's anything else you need" instead of "WRITE IT NOW" is a little better. ;)
