Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I was an ED'er back in november that did get an interview request, and I can tell you from monitoring this thread obsessively before I was admitted on the 17th that no one should lose hope over not receiving a request or not seeing an update for awhile or really anything like that. Plenty of ED'ers and RD people have gotten in without interviews plenty have seen big gaps between updates and gotten in, put on the preferred waitlist and got in after submitting LOCI, all kinds of stuff. I can tell you for the first couple weeks in january people that were seeing updates on wed, thurs, and fri were getting waitlist/rejection emails towards the end of the day on fri, people seeing updates on thurs, fri, and mon, and not on wed. were able to generate a username/password on ASW by monday afternoon. Have no idea if thats been the pattern since though

This is only my second update though so maybe that pattern only applies to people who get their third updates!!gthopeful wrote:Thanks for the information... i sure hope that the pattern has changed becasue I just updated to 2/1...i guess I should be careful what I wish forbenito wrote:I was an ED'er back in november that did get an interview request, and I can tell you from monitoring this thread obsessively before I was admitted on the 17th that no one should lose hope over not receiving a request or not seeing an update for awhile or really anything like that. Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I'm sure this has been mentioned/asked earlier, but I really don't feel like going through 140+ pages. I just received a request to interview...how necessary is it for someone with my numbers (172/3.26/2.5 yrs WE finance)?
See as how we are getting very late in the application cycle, anyone have an opinion as to whether I'd be better off just telling them to process the app as quickly as possible, or to go through with the interview?

The 172 is good, but the GPA is low; I would interview. I think at this stage, it doesn't hurt to delay processing of your app by a week or two in order to get the benefit of the interview.T_SAN wrote:I'm sure this has been mentioned/asked earlier, but I really don't feel like going through 140+ pages. I also just updated to 2/1....
I submitted a youtube video as well, for the optional response - and judging from the view count, it looks like they've watched it.
From the large gaps people were listing between submitting and receiving interview requests, I had guessed they weren't doing them for ED applicants, but it appears that's not the case. Wish I could send them something like this:
Dear Admissions Committee,
I'd really like to meet you; would you like to meet me too? If so, I'll drop everything and come to DC right now. If the flights are all full, no worries, I'll just hitchhike. Please let me know when to arrive.
Sincerely,
Desperate to be Admitted

I'm in the same boat and also hopeful for gt. I haven't had any update since complete 12/9. I'm thinking about submitting a LOCI or possibly even requesting an interview. Thoughts?gthopeful wrote:Is there a consensus on what it means to not get an interview request at all??...with my numbers I think I am definatley in the ding pile if I dont get an interview

At our interview, Dean Cornblatt gave us the sense that the interviews are idiosyncratic and were requested for people for whom the university just wanted to learn more about. In some sense it sounded like these are "borderline candidates" but he seemed to imply that not all borderline candidates get interviews.gthopeful wrote:Is there a consensus on what it means to not get an interview request at all??...with my numbers I think I am definatley in the ding pile if I dont get an interview

Updated today, with an email about interviewing with a GULC alumni. My numbers make me a borderline candidate, but I am glad that I still may have some sort of a chance ..

Re: Georgetown c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
Hello everyone,
I just got an email asking to be interviewed today. I was just curious how common this is/if there is a positive corrolation between taking an interview and being accepted (I am definitely going to interview).
I assume this question has been asked and answered before, but I do not feel like digging through the thread. Any help would be awesome!

guess it's their way of telling us "almost there"
not sure if i'll go though. does anyone know if interviewed people who get in still get $$ offers?

need some advice...I just had my second complete today as I said earlier I am kinda worried I didn't get an interview request because I think my numbers are way too low to be admitted without one...that being said would it hurt to send an LOCI before I get a decision...Im ED if that helps

Got an e-mail for an interview yesterday. I hope it is a good sign. I agreed right away, because I was left with the impression that I better play along if I want to get in. Do you have any idea how close to admission a person is when given the chance to interview. Do they simply need to learn more, or am I actually almost in?
And do you guys have any idea what those interviews are all about. I am not really sure where the interview will be on the scale between: "Do you have any brothers and sisters?" and "Give me a step-by-step career plan for the next ten years!". I hope it is more towards the former...
