So is the rule a rule, or more of a guideline? I'm terrified Dean Z's going to see my extra essay and be like "pssh, this self-absorbed moron's failed to read the directions, which say 'two supplementary essays' pretty damn clearly."

2 supplemental essays required? On the app it says:
If you wish, write one or two essays (but no more) on the following topics. Each essay should be about one page. (If applying electronically, use an electronic attachment.)

I wrote an addendum explaining why I didn't follow their rules to the letter regarding a resume requirement. To date, UM is the only school that has rejected me. I'd recommend compliance.

Shit, looking at your cycle, I am now also inclined towards compliance, so as to avoid upsetting the adcomm gods.

Just be true to yourself. If that is a big part of who you are, say so. If not - then let it go.

Of all the status checkers I've gotten, why does Michigan update so many times? Other places I've had my review dates change 1-3 times, but at Michigan it's every couple of days. What's with that?

It automatically displays today's date.

Hey everybody, quick question. Is there anyone else out there who is going to one of Michigan's preview weekends? And if so is there a way to find cheap flights from the west coast? I really want to go but I dont know if it's in the budget with a $400 flight to Detroit. Thanks and good luck to everybody!

I'm thinking about this issue as well (flying out of LA/OC). Does Michigan grant stipends at all?

Sorry that this post doesn't relate to the discussion going on right now, but I was able to access the Admitted Students Website a few minutes even though my status checker did not change from "Complete." Also, does anyone know if scholarship offers are included in the "Mail & Money" section of the ASW? Or does this information come via snail mail?

Congrats! It won't change for a day or two.
It will show in Mail and Money if you are getting any, a week or more from now.

does anyone know generally how long it takes to deliver a decision after your application goes complete? the email says approx. 10 days, but i'm curious whether this is a realistic time frame to expect an answer...

Lolissimus, no way. There are people who have been waiting since October.

IN via ASW!!!! My status checker paused with everyone else's a couple of days ago. My heart stopped when the red text didn't come up when I attempted to access the ASW.
Got an e-mail about "consumer information about the Univ. of Michigan" from the office of financial aid that didn't mention anything about an acceptance, but decided that the ASW might be worth another try (had weaned myself off of it lately).
Submitted- beginning of Dec., Status checker- 12/23, ASW access- 2/17

Anyone else terrified of your status checker reading "Decision" without having access to ASW? I fear this more than an official rejection.

I'm more scared that I'll just never receive a decision. I gave up on checking the status checker a couple months ago, except when I see someone like awhoya has gotten in (damn you for giving me false hope!).
Edit: Congrats, by the way. Is that your number one?
