My latest theory on the "no status change purple letters' (if anyone can come up with a good acronym for these, you get a cookie):
-The earliest ones hit the East Coast, in particular New York, on Monday
-lyman is (I think? Correct me if I'm wrong!) in Chicago and got one today
-So those of us on the West Coast can still hope we get a surprise tomorrow or Thursday
Clearly, I have spent way too much time thinking about this.

Since I'm ED, updated today to still just UR I'm guessing I'm deferred/dinged.

Re: NYU 2011
I have come to the baseless conclusion that I'm part of a very select few still ED and UR at NYU.
I'm gonna give myself a 30% chance at a deferral, 20% chance at acceptance, 30% chance at rejection, and a 20% chance that my school's odd grading system has delayed my decision.
Also, we are hella bringing Hella to NY if we both get in.

ED app here.
UR on 11/18, didn't change once until today. 'Decision letter sent' 12/21. Should I be worried I that I didn't have any other date change after my initial UR date?

Would you two mind PMing me your numbers. I am ED still on 12/15 UR and am anticipating the deferral. I assume mine hasn't gotten here due to mail forwarding.ClayDavis wrote:Dittonymario wrote:Received ED Deferral today in MD, postmarked 12/18. Still UR 12/15 on the status checker.

Hey everyone,
I am brand new to posting here but I've been lurking for a while. I had to break my silence because my NYU cycle went complete 12/6-->UR 12/17-->"Decision Letter Sent" 12/22.
With a 3.7/172, there's no way that's anything but a WL or reject, right? Waaaay too fast for an acceptance...

Re: NYU 2011
Hi Guys!
The admissions office called me today to verify my address because my decision letter got sent back to the office instead of my house (frustrating since this has never happened before). Obviously they can't give me a decision over the phone, but I was wondering if there were RDs whose decision letters went out on 12/17 (10/20 crowd) who got rejected?
I'm really hoping to get in and I can't believe this happened...really anxious but hoping for some good news!
Thanks for the help in advance....

I definitely wouldn't assume that...there have been plenty of RD acceptances with those numbers this year. Good luck!LinzerTorte wrote:Hey everyone,

Re: NYU 2011
So hivemind speculation question. If we are stuck at 10/20 RD and hear nothing by xmas/new year, do we give up hope, or are we still vaguely thinking the waves of admission are behind schedule this year?
Unrelated question, if we sign that we are going to apply for a scholarship and don't end up submitting the essay, are we shooting ourselves in the foot, admissions-wise? (I apologize if this has been asked, or if I am asking in the wrong forum). I sadly expected to hear by now as I submitted in September, based on previous waves, and have been too depressed-like to write the essay!
PLEASE DO NOT PRECEDENT CAT ME!! heh

Re: NYU 2011
ayahara - I think the best way to determine that is to look at the number of RD acceptances that had gone out by this time last year on LSN and compare it to the number of RD acceptances so far this year. If there is a discrepancy with more acceptances last year, it's not foolish to hold out hope. If the numbers are relatively close, however, you would probably not want to be too hopeful once January rolls around.

UR 12/8, Decision Letter Sent today 12/22. Out of curiosity, did any of the people who got the purple envelope without a status change ever change??
What do we think about these 12/22 RD changes???? Good news? Bad news?

Like we've said every other time, in no other year have RD rejections or waitlists gone out this early. It's almost certainly a good thing. So... congrats!daisyduke wrote:UR 12/8, Decision Letter Sent today 12/22. Out of curiosity, did any of the people who got the purple envelope without a status change ever change??
