It shouldn't affect early or middle-ish applicants, but for later applicants, it's very possible that money would start to get thin, which could hurt $$ chancesmh7777 wrote:What about timing? Typically a week or two. I wouldn't worry, with your stats, you should get a pretty decent amount!julesm2200 wrote:how soon after being accepted does scholarship information (if any) come?
I'm guessing 'later' means after 1/1, right?starstruck393 wrote: It shouldn't affect early or middle-ish applicants, but for later applicants, it's very possible that money would start to get thin, which could hurt $$ chances

Yea(?). I was vague because I'm not totally sure, but that sounds about right. Last year, and partially because of overfilling, there were hardly any acceptances for applicants later than the first or second week of January. Only those with really good numbers got in, and many who would have been near locks earlier in the cycle got waitlisted...boilercat wrote:I'm guessing 'later' means after 1/1, right?starstruck393 wrote: It shouldn't affect early or middle-ish applicants, but for later applicants, it's very possible that money would start to get thin, which could hurt $$ chances
that's exactly what's going to end up happening to me.starstruck393 wrote:Yea(?). I was vague because I'm not totally sure, but that sounds about right. Well, hopefully with precautions taken to avoid the gross over-enrollment of last year, they'll string out the application process more, which gives later applications a better chance. I do understand how this frustrates those still waiting, though...boilercat wrote:that's exactly what's going to end up happening to me.starstruck393 wrote:Yea(?). I graphed that data some time ago:starstruck393 wrote: It's not a purely GPA line, or a purely LSAT line. It's likely an index line. I'm sorry, I should have clarified. I was admitted on January 12th, but haven't heard anything. As for the 26th, people were discussing getting schollys ITT up until that date and then nothing after that. I was just wondering if they were done giving out money for now. I'm hoping my offer is sitting in a japanese post office somewhere.Aeon wrote:The 26th of January? I'd say it's probably a bit early for anyone who was admitted this recently to hear anything regarding scholarships. Michigan sends merit award notifications some time after the initial acceptance package. As far as stat cut-offs for various scholarship amounts, I'm not entirely sure about those numbers, perhaps someone else has taken the time to compile this info? You might also check out LSN, I think some have posted up the amounts of their scholarship awards there.def2104 wrote:Anyone after the 26th hear anything about schollys? I'm not giving up hope yet. Just checking, but I'm guessing the red are URMs?jackassjim wrote:Hehe!Tangerine Gleam wrote:Woah.
Yeah, it's hard to (quickly and effortlessly) draw a graph with 3 dimensions without it looking a bit overwhelming like that. I'm sure I could have made it look cooler (maybe a 2d with bigger circles for bigger scholarships), but I just didn't bother playing with the default settings of the graphing software.
I still think this is pretty informative. It seems that if there are really graduated cut-off points with varying amounts of money, they really are LSAT cut-offs, not GPA ones. If they were really working with an index, then we would see gradually increasing clusters going from the lower-left to the upper-right, kind of like a diagonal spine separating the graph in two. Instead, we see the height of the points going up pretty uniformly across the board, from front to back. This seems to indicate that, when you reach about 3.5 in GPA, it's pretty much all LSAT.
Keep in mind that this is self-reported data from 2009, from LSN.
No they're not. The red dots simply have lower LSAT scores.def2104 wrote:Just checking, but I'm guessing the red are URMs?
