Don't hate on people who sent a PS to a school with the wrong school's name in it...

Re: Columbia 2011!
Have you all stopped and thought about how we're all going to be classmates? Like, in a year, we're all going to be friends. That's ridiculous.
EDIT: and, I've heard after going through law school, for some reason you lose all the friends you had from before. I guess that means we only have each other. I love you guys.

I don't want to look back, but does anyone know when the letters were postmarked? I want to see how long one would take to get to Alabama so I know when to give up.

Should get here Thursday (IF it's coming...) even if mailed late in the day. If it's not here by the time the mailman leaves Friday, I will chalk it up to a loss. Sigh. I wish I lived in NYC!

yes, today it is. If not today, I am definitely drinking wed/thursday night because that marks the end of my cycle (dings from CCN).dulcatis wrote:Yeah! If not, I'm not sure that proves anything. Not to be disagreeable, just to give you and us all back a little sliver of hope.
No NYCers are allowed to give up hope until tomorrow! After then, HOT MESS TIME.

Hope this sprinkling of snow in DC doesn't somehow manage to shut down the entire postal system here.... Considering how this city handles winter weather, I'm not holding my breath.

It's pretty bad all points north. I don't know how it will affect mail in transit, but many schools are closed here, and I have yet to seen 1 plow truck. They are sitting around waiting for rain later, and the 6-8 inches tonight.jpk5372 wrote:Hope this sprinkling of snow in DC doesn't somehow manage to shut down the entire postal system here.... It's a fucking blizzard outside. I have a feeling the mail is not coming today.
On a happier note, I saw some vomit in the snow from a frat boy who got a little too excited a few nights ago. Good omen?

Indeed. Why my little sister gets to stay home from school for slush on the ground is beyond me. Public school system fail.jpk5372 wrote:Hope this sprinkling of snow in DC doesn't somehow manage to shut down the entire postal system here.... This morning my boss told me to stay home because of the snow (in NYC...as if the username didn't give that away...).
Of all the days for me to stay at home, why'd it have to be today!?

Re: Columbia 2011!
Take heart guys; NYC mail can be really funky.
When NYU letters were going out, people who lived 20 minutes away from me (I live in Greenpoint) were getting their letter two days before me. And that's for mail originating in the village, mail being sent from the UWS might have a totally different distribution path.

Word to what everyone has said about the mail being weird in NYC as it is, and looking out my window at work is making me sure the mail will only be further delayed...so even if it doesn't happen today, fellow NYCers, stay strong!

Re: Columbia 2011!
I have some good/bad news for all the international applicants. I spoke with Columbia's admission office this morning and they informed me that emails are not sent out to every international applicant. She said that only in certain cases (which she failed to specify) are emails sent out prior to decision letters. So if this is the case, we could be in but not find out for the next couple weeks (approximately three weeks for me if NYU was any indication).
This sounds a bit strange and suspect to me, but this is the information given to me from the Columbia admissions office. I am hoping that it is correct.

They might have said that b/c of Canada. I wouldn't be surprised if they just did snail mail for Toronto but e-mail for, I don't know, Prague.CastleRock wrote:I have some good/bad news for all the international applicants. I haven't checked in here since people first started getting the vom-velopes. Are NYCers freaking out if they didn't get one yesterday? Are we holding out hope for today? I'm in Brooklyn and had an empty mailbox last night...
