Just got my WL email today. Claims that they received 7,900 non-resident apps.

172/3.84, strong softs (MA, int'l fellowships in grad school)

me too. Almost the same stats except with a 4.0 GPA.

Same here, above both 75th percentiles. I was hoping for a scholarship, but I didn't even get in.

And my prediction was off. Waitlisted today. Can't justifiably call it YP, since I did try to indicate my interest in my application and throughout the review process. Disappointing, indeed.

So sorry to hear that, I know you were really keen on UVA. I'm still waiting on an answer but not very hopefull considering whats been happening to RD's of late. This sucks, UVA is def my #1 but for financial reasons, I just couldn't bring myself to ED. I've also got Duke under the belt with some $$- are you going to the ASW next weekend?

Yeah I'll be in Durham from Thursday through Sunday. I'm really excited about it. I haven't heard anything about a scholarship from them, so I'm hopeful that's in the works.

Gah, I was really pulling for you. Considering we have the same numbers and things ended so differently for us, I'm wondering if they just desperately need more female students. Regardless, Duke is fantastic, and I'm sure there's some serious $$ coming your way. Enjoy your visit!

Yeah it is probably YP. though to be fair, my why UVA essay was totally phoned in so that could have done me in. Anyway, apparently a lot of us who got into HYS have been waitlisted at UVA. I'm sure if you are above both 75th percentiles you have some other really great offers. good luck!

Whelp, officially withdrew tonight. Dean Faulk is awesome and UVA is terrific. Turning down their unexpected scholarship was the first truly tough decision I've had to make this cycle.

Best of luck to y'all still waiting, and I hope my scholly money goes to some good folks!

Just received my financial aid. Will be withdrawing soon. I sent them my other aid packages (including Chicagos) and they came in the LOWEST. 60k.

Same here... I'm really disappointed. UVA is really one of my top 3 choices, but I was REALLY hoping for at least 75k. I think they have had so many good applications this year that they are being a little skimpy with aid in comparison to previous years.

Yea, I sent them back an email saying that if they would have even at least matched Chicago I might have considered, but I withdrew

E-mail, and yes it showed up on my status checker as of Monday.

My status checker says Scholarship Letter as of 3/17 but I haven't received an email yet. PopCopyManager, when did you receive your email (I know your status checker updated on Monday)?

It's my understanding (and I spoke with someone in financial aid earlier this week) that the combined merit/need based scholarships should be going out by the end of this week, or early next week. (at least the first round). I'm not sure if they are still sending out merit-only scholarships.

Can anyone confirm whether the most recent scholarships are merit-only or combined merit/need based scholarships?

Mine is a Dean's Scholarship. I got a letter about it earlier in the week, and this morning's e-mail shows the same amount.

Did you guys just learn the amount in the e-mail from the Financial Aid Office (rather than in a letter from the Dean)? If so, how do you know whether the scholarship amount was need or merit based?

I don't think so, not yet anyway. I suspect many combined more merit/need offers will go out in the next week. That said, we have very similar numbers, so I hope for your sake and mine that they love 168/3.9 candidates this year!
