We've been awful (mostly 1-11) in the recent past but last year we were i think 8-5 and won our first bowl game since 1984. New Coach June Jones is doing wonders. Definitely a program to watch grow. Exciting for me as I waited 4 years of undergrad for this to start happening. Our basketball team isn't much to get excited about.

Do they accept law students as walk-ons?

You have 5 years from the day you step foot on campus as an undergrad to use 4 years of eligibility. If you didn't play football as an undergrad and you came straight from undergrad to law school, then you have one year of eligibility left. Walk-on tryouts are probably going on right now (if they're not over already). What position do you play?

I got Dorsaneo's 5th ed case book for civ pro on amazon for 16 dollars, never been used.. this seemed odd considering all the other casebooks were at least $150 new..

Also, are people still waiting on their grad plus loans to be approved? It's getting to crunch time and I still have no 'loan details' next to the gradplus loan. I have called the financial aid office (including today) a total of 29 times over the summer now and have never once spoken to a human being nor gotten a call back. Evidently there is ONE SINGLE PERSON who is in charge of financial aid for the entire university. Considering the cost, what the hell are they thinking? Hire some more people.

Call the enrollment services office and not financial aid. I talked to them earlier this week and they were very helpful.

I got home tonight to find mine waiting in the mail. Of course, when I was trying to remove the decal from the huge glob of adhesive they used to attach it to the brochure the adhesive won and there is now a round hole in the sticker right in the middle of the barcode. Bah!

I emailed the parking services people about the hole in the decal. They said that if it is minor damage, it shouldn't affect the barcode read. They also said that I could stop by and get a replacement if I wanted to.

I'll probably swing by before orientation and get a new one, just because I'm wierd about stuff like that

haha, it's definitely not a big deal. all i did was take off the clear plastic thing and it damaged the barcode. their fault, not mine. Besides if anything, it will just inconvenience the stupid park n' pony guys, whom by the way are miserable and live to write tickets.

I also looked up printing on the SMU website and it says that we get an allowance for 1200 pages of printing in the library, along with free lexis and westlaw printing. --LinkRemoved--

Don't necessarily go by me, but I did not remember doing that last year. You will get acquainted with the honor code, though. If your instructions say do it, then by all means you need to; however, if you are just clicking on it because it is on Access.SMU, I don't know if it's required.

I was indeed clicking it just because it is on access SMU. I'll stop worrying about it. I guess if it turns out to be required, someone will yell at me to do it eventually

I'm in the evening program, so I know you full-timers will have more books to purchase but it still looks like you can get a really good deal on Amazon if you're willing to buy used and you sign up for a membership.

How the hell did you get them for $300? The first Contracts book alone is $100 used.

I made a mistake by assuming that there were no books for legal writing since mine weren't showing up under the "view textbooks". As a result, it actually is going to end up costing me about $500.

It looked like there were a lot of used copies of most books, which means you should still be able to find a really clean copy.

As an example, for this semester I had to buy 7 books. I got two from the bookstore - one that was an incredibly clean/like-new used copy that was the same price as what I found online, the other was a statute. For some reason, buying things like the Texas Penal Code/Family Code/etc. are incredibly expensive online - I've never seen an online source that was better than the bookstore.

The other five I bought on Amazon (through the Marketplace sellers) or Half.com. I saved about $250 by doing this. When you buy from Half.com or Amazon marketplace, though, you have to be careful to order early enough or pay for expedited shipping because media mail shipping can be very slow and you don't want to still be receiving books the week classes start. Learned that lesson the hard way...

In general, Amazon's new book prices were just a few dollars more than the bookstore's used prices.

Amazon only had one of the LRWA textbooks. I just returned from the SMU bookstore, and they are out of two of the books, Texas rules of form (8/20 availability) and interactive citation workbook (9/10 availability).
