Does dude = bro? As in http://www.broslikethissite.com/?puppins wrote:obvcrackberry wrote: I assume "dude" means V6 here.
you don't look like a "dude" I don't think but V6 totally does. I would also comfortably call him broseph.

Less than a Hammy err Hamilton or a Butler, wouldn't that just be grant money?VoidSix wrote:Duke and NYU haven't given money to anyone yet. NYU will probably make us wait for a LONG time to find out, too. Duke should be in the next few weeks, and Columbia might still sendyou something less than a Hammy or Butty. hthSogui wrote:I'll probably make a post/thread about this 10 times before March 1st, but I'm really curious...
I'm in at Duke, NYU, and Columbia. I'm also anticipating getting in at UT with hopefully some $$$.
Duke, NYU, and Columbia did not offer me any scholarships () and so my financial situation over the next 3 years will vary WILDLY upon how I handle my financial aid.
- I'm single and independent
- My father passed away, my mother is making peanuts. Her FAFSA reflects her low income (this should help with Columbia grants)
So, assuming I get some grants/non-loan aid from NYU or Columbia, how do I use aid from one of these Manhattan schools to leverage more aid from the other?
I know I'll have to wait and I still have plenty of paperwork to fill out, but I've been fascinated with the subject ever since I saw someone squeeze $75k in non-loan aid out of Columbia after NYU gave him $65k, Columbia even confirmed that the raise in their offer was to match/beat NYU's

Well i think a lot of school this year are changing the way they are approaching admissions. Columbia did say we would start hearing from in February this year so maybe they are saving the biggest waves for next week.

They cannot be done with Admits. Last year there were 247 admits on LSN, this year so far only 161

I wonder if the silence you guys are experiencing with Columbia has a relationship with the similar silence we are getting from Harvard?
Has anyone besides Cornell commented on how much their apps are up by this year?
Anyway best of luck guys, I definitely feel your pain.

Do you think that the two silences are serious about each other? When did they start dating?Sogui wrote:I wonder if the silence you guys are experiencing with Columbia has a relationship with the similar silence we are getting from Harvard?

It's pretty insensitive for TLSers to keep hoping they break it off...managamy wrote:Do you think that the two silences are serious about each other? Cornell claims they were up 53%blue5385 wrote:I actually Googled this awhile back and didn't find anything like the story on Cornell's app explosion (but if anyone did find anything, please post). Even then if it weren't for the NYTimes article that sparked interest in the jump in Cornell apps, I doubt we would even have a solid % from them either.
Other schools just probably aren't being that vocal about the apps jump. I have no idea why. Maybe it's a self-perpetuating cycle, if schools report a HUGE jump in apps, candidates get worried and send out even more apps for fear of mass rejection.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
