Was literally not even going to join this forum, but couldn't resist the chance for a cat bump.

Ahaha the "cat bump." Law school admissions is 60% LSAT, 30% GPA, 3% softs, 3% PS, 1% LoR, and 100% cats. That math adds up, right?

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Ps. Does anyone think it's possible we get a FOURTH day of acceptances?
The second day took me by surprise, and I definitely didn't think we would get a third. But a fourth?! Would be crazy.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
I hate to say it (as a reverse-splitter myself) but this cycle has done nothing but confirm that for me. Looking at H's acceptance logic so far (what we can see from TLS, that is), the first JS2s were those with LSAT>75 and GPA>75. But, as the cycle continued, JS2s were given to those with LSAT>75 (and then, later on, ~50) but GPA<75 and <50 (and, in some cases, <25) more frequently.thequeen wrote:full stop. hold up!pylon wrote:Law school admissions is 60% LSAT

I think this (the emphasis on LSAT) makes a lot of sense because of how LSAT scores are standardized (thus, those with LSAT>75 limited) whereas, hypothetically, there could be a lot more people with GPA>75 in the applicant pool because no governing body has that level of control on GPA. Again, discouraging for a reverse-splitter like myself, but still interesting.

It's mostly just about how USNWR weights the scores.tonysoprano wrote:I hate to say it (as a reverse-splitter myself) but this cycle has done nothing but confirm that for me. "Median LSAT scores (0.125): These are the combined median scores on the Law School Admission Test of all 2013 full-time and part-time entrants to the J.D. program.
Median undergrad GPA (0.10): This is the combined median undergraduate grade-point average of all the 2013 full-time and part-time entrants to the J.D. program."
Lsat scores are weighted somewhat more heavily in the rankings than GPA.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Unless I missed something, it seems like everyone from the three days this week got their confirmation emails this afternoon (excluding those abroad who got emails to begin with). That could mean they're done for the week. But of course this is all purely speculative.pylon wrote:Ps. Does anyone think it's possible we get a FOURTH day of acceptances?

Praying I wake up to people posting about calls, or better yet the loudest Bob Dylan song I could find for my ring tone blasting on my nightstand.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Harvard may put more emphasis on the LSAT I'm uncertain but some schools do care more about GPA than LSAT like Berkeley and UVA seem to definitely care about both but GPA usually seems more important to them. Or it seems to be more important to them than most other T14 schools.tonysoprano wrote:I hate to say it (as a reverse-splitter myself) but this cycle has done nothing but confirm that for me. That seems like a reasonable enough theory; I must have missed it with all the cat hype ahastrugglebus wrote:Unless I missed something, it seems like everyone from the three days this week got their confirmation emails this afternoon (excluding those abroad who got emails to begin with).
