Re: NYU 2010
I'm going crazy waiting for these last decisions! It's a shame because I had wanted to know by now what school I was attending, so that I can get stuff set in motion. I still have 3 schools I'm waiting on!

Re: NYU 2010
FYI: If any other Post 9/11 GI Bill people are thinking of NYU, I just found out that the law school also participates in Yellow Ribbon for up to $7000/year ($3500 NYU, $3500 VA). The VA website indicates that NYU undergrad participates but does not mention the law school. I am still waiting to hear back about total awards (if they're capped) and when applications start rolling...
If I did my math correctly, this brings potential VA benefits (assuming 15 credits/semester, $1k fees/year, and $1k books/year) to around $192k over 3 years for NYU (use 10027 zip code)!

F is right. had someone call the admissions office for me and they said when a decision is made, mailing is immediate. does it really take a week to mail a letter from NYC to Kansas City?hannah87 wrote:tried logging in at the magic time (1:30). no-go.

At the ASW, they say this is their largest ASW event ever. About 350 students here. Not sure how that plays with admissions. Maybe they are worried about over enrollment?

Interesting, they were over-enrolled last year. Makes sense...CG614 wrote:At the ASW, they say this is their largest ASW event ever. About 350 students here. Not sure how that plays with admissions. Maybe they are worried about over enrollment?

received this reply from admissions
Thank you for your e-mail. Your application was complete and is with the Committee. Candidates who applied by our regular February 1 deadline will be mailed notification by late April. Candidates may hear sooner than late April, but they will certainly hear by then.
Thank you for your interest in NYU School of Law.

ED + HOLD ----> DING
Waited about 7 months for that... Oh well, I kind of expected it by now, and had already decided on NU AJD anyway. Good luck to those still waiting.

This is the standard email sent to everyone who asks about status. It was my reply as well.phonepro wrote:received this reply from admissions

Re: NYU 2010
If it makes you feel better, the vast majority of the people I spoke with were still deciding on which school to attend. NYU put on a strong presentation, so not sure how that played. I know it makes my decision very hard. I am probably leaning NYU right now, but I still have Columbia's ASW to attend.nax425 wrote:oh joy... more "good" news.CG614 wrote:At the ASW, they say this is their largest ASW event ever. Re: NYU 2010
My opinion is the exact same as the above. At least two-thirds of the people at the ASW were deciding between NYU and Columbia, many having not yet visited Columbia. I also met a girl deciding between NYU and Stanford, and even a guy choosing between a full scholarship at NYU and Yale, and there were plenty of other people deciding between NYU and schools they will probably end up attending and NYU.
Also, everyone and their mother was on hold at Harvard (including a guy I met whose only T14 acceptance was NYU). Which would be depressing news for the Harvard thread.

Re: NYU 2010
I spoke with at least one person who was almost certainly going to turn down Harvard for NYU, and I didn't encounter anybody who seemed totally sold somewhere and was only along for the ride. NYU definitely put on a good showing the past couple days and lots of people seemed intrigued.
Oh, I shouldn't share too many details out of respect for the privacy of my source, but somebody I spent some time with spoke with the dean of admissions, who seemed to imply that the class isn't 100% full. Keep those fingers crossed!

I got a 4.0 this past quarter (grades just came out). Do you think sending a new transcript would be worth it so late in the process? NYU already asked for my fall grades, but since I was abroad they were only "passes" rather than letter grades.

Is anyone here who got into a school above NYU's ranking going to accept the Dean's scholarship and enroll next week?

Re: NYU 2010
I think I might if NYU doesn't give me an extension (provided Columbia counts as "above NYU's ranking"). I want to visit Columbia beforehand, but I won't have the time.Sogui wrote:Is anyone here who got into a school above NYU's ranking going to accept the Dean's scholarship and enroll next week?

I'm probably turning down Columbia and Chicago next week and accepting NYU's offer; of course Chicago is not ranked above NYU, and Columbia might not count.Sogui wrote:Is anyone here who got into a school above NYU's ranking going to accept the Dean's scholarship and enroll next week?
