I was lead to believe this was correct for most schools in general.LawsRUs wrote:hey. cant go wrong with AO right?UOI4430 wrote:Is there information about where to send scholarship appeals? Should I just send an email to the admissions office asking who to speak with/email?

guys. let's sit down for some serious talk:
I don't like how the poll is turning out so far. Are people not coming because they have a schedule conflict or because they aren't matriculating?

Just got the Dean's Fellow email. PM for info.
Do we know if they have awarded Webster scholarships yet?
Also, congrats to everyone who has heard, and good luck to everyone who hasn't!

How much of a chance would WashU match the scholly offer from UMN ($25,000/year) if I send a scholarship negotiation e-mail?

I am still waiting to hear from other schools but I think it is unlikely that UMN will offer more, based on my stats. WashU only offered me $5000 a year but it would be at the top of my list if they could at least bring it up a little bit.LawsRUs wrote:Congrats CFC !! You gonna take it?? XD

Does WashU negotiate?Dulman wrote:In the UMN thread, people were discussing whether or not UMN negotiates. The general consensus was that they do not.Zombie wrote:How much of a chance would WashU match the scholly offer from UMN ($25,000/year) if I send a scholarship negotiation e-mail?

It can't hurt to try. I would ask for more money first before sending the UMN letter. Or be vague about how much they offered. You might get lucky and get more than you expected, and if not, you can always send the letter later.Zombie wrote:Does WashU negotiate?Dulman wrote:In the UMN thread, people were discussing whether or not UMN negotiates. I have a nice, fun-loving professor that thought an exam the Monday after spring break was a good idea, so that's pretty much my weekend right thereLawsRUs wrote:Do you guys and gals have any plans for the weekend??

Yeah $5000 a year would roughly cover the amount of tuition increases and fees but not make a dent on the current tuition x 3 so you'd have $150,000 just from tuition. WashU is a good school and one of three I'm deciding between, but if you're debt financing I don't think it would be a good idea unless you can get closer to UMN's offer. People already considered law school overpriced at sticker 5 years ago when it was <$40,000 but by the time we graduate it will be closer to $60,000 a year. We more than likely won't get biglaw. WashU gives a good chance at it (and it sounds like last years OCI was great so the percentage may have increased), but for most students they should expect $60,000 starting salaries and take on debt accordingly. WashU is nice because it has a brass ring within reach, whereas most law schools don't even have one, but reaching it is still the unlikely outcome. We all naturally think we'll do fine because we imagine lazy undergrad students, and can't comprehend the curve.Zombie wrote:I am still waiting to hear from other schools but I think it is unlikely that UMN will offer more, based on my stats. (although I will say WashU has a high mean which should look good on applications and will hopefully help in job hunting. like I said, it's still a great school. but $160,000 in debt would be a bad idea)

Kind of a broad question for any and all: what are the most active groups in the law school?

lim pls send my worst wishes to your evil professor

tblock, you know what you're getting into, good for you!!
---
LGI or other STL-ers, what is your favorite thing to do in downtown STL or Loop or CWE or Forest Park?
(At ASW, I really desperately need to fall in love, head over heels, with STL and WUSTL to matriculate..Pls help!)
USC's COA is lower than WUSTL, why?? I thought WUSTL would be more generous?

How much you like a city should be way down the list of importance when choosing a LS, granted, it should be a consideration. The city museum is cool. You could see if the blues will be in town if you are into hockey. The landing is a cool bar/club area. If you like soul food, sweetie pies is amazing. That's about all I got as far as downtown activities. I honestly don't go downtown much. The cardinals obviously, but the season doesn't start until April. There is stuff to do in STL, just most of it isn't downtown.LawsRUs wrote:lim pls send my worst wishes to your evil professor![]()
