Fair warning: I called from a scrambled line.Mr. Somebody wrote:Perhaps this justifies another phone call? Maybe if we show them this spreadsheet and force them to admit the e-mail was not equally applied then they will have no choice but to give us a decision on the spot....

Please fill out this form: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/vie ... YjVOS1E6MQ
Here is the spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc ... n_US#gid=0
Can we keep this on each new page for a while so everyone gets the chance to fill it out through out the day?

you can apply for deferred enrollment - mich is one of few schools that allows you to do this up front.citygirl000 wrote:how can you apply for 2013?emcoast32 wrote:i'm a 174 who did not receive the email, but i applied for 2013, if that helps.

As I said when I talked to Dakure: if this was Michigan's attempt to relieve stress on applicants, it looks like it did the opposite.

I don't think there is a way to relieve stress for TLSers. Don't say anything "OMG what is happening!" Say something, "What does it mean! OMG I'm totally WLed!"UnamSanctam wrote:As I said when I talked to Dakure: if this was Michigan's attempt to relieve stress on applicants, it looks like it did the opposite.

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I think Michigan is particularly confusing and encourages wanton speculation because they release decisions fast for some folks and slow for others. That and the YP (or however you want to explain people with roughly similar numbers having different outcomes). I think I prefer the more predictable schools that either move in roughly chronological order through the app pile or who hold everyone to a certain date and release in a big clump (nobody's freaking out in the Columbia or Yale threads for instance).thelong wrote:I don't think there is a way to relieve stress for TLSers. Wow that spreadsheet is really telling. The vast majority who got that email seem to have stellar numbers (borderline auto-admit really for a lot of them). I can't think of a reason so many haven't been admitted, other than YP and a super wait-and-see approach this year?

From what's being said and the spreadsheet, I think I feel pretty good about getting the email with my numbers (167, 3.77). Anyone think I should LOCI right now?

Can someone add my information to the spreadsheet? Chinese internet won't let me access the form or the spreadsheet.
I did receive the email.
GPA: 3.99
LSAT: 166
Submitted: 10/25
Is there anything else that the form asks for?
Also, are there any conclusions that can be drawn from the data so far? Or does it seem fairly random?

I think this guy has it on the money. So looks like I'm gonna have to draft some LOCI soon....plurilingue wrote:Something similar happened five years earlier (--LinkRemoved--), and yes this is very much a hold/deferral/pre-YP decision. It basically is a solicitation for some kind of interest from applicants who are either: (a) almost certainly going to be cross-admitted to higher-ranked schools; (b) from regions and undergraduate universities that traditionally have low yield; and/or (c) did not express any special interest in the University of Michigan. I would also wager that there's a correlation between people who are getting this email and people who applied on a whim using a fee waiver.
I also find it slightly amusing that the text of the letter has not evolved in such a long period of time.

I've looked at this forum waaaayy too much today. Some sort of restriction is needed to limit the amount of time spent on this thread....

Re: Michigan c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
It does seem reasonable, but I also find it pretty disheartening. I really love Michigan, and I submitted two of the optional essays (including a Why Michigan). The other one was totally unique to Mich's options, not a diversity statement. Plus I'm not sure my numbers are high enough for YP, someone today got in with my exact numbers. I'm just at a loss about what else I could send in. An LOCI seems like it might be redundant. Perhaps they are just trying to wait out the withdrawals that might come from this?wendys27 wrote:This seems like a very reasonable explanationplurilingue wrote:Something similar happened five years earlier (--LinkRemoved--), and yes this is very much a hold/deferral/pre-YP decision.
