This was the last thing I needed to read right before Yale's deadline. #allnighterpotterotter wrote:I am below 25 LSAT for H. I am only slightly above 50 GPA for H. KJD. No fancy softs. Not URM. Didn't attend a top school for undergrad. The strongest part of my application is the one they're required to read line by line, not something a computer could quantify.dhbiv wrote:Yeah, I worded my post pretty poorly, but I wasn't trying to imply that was actually one of the rules. Just an example of a type of rule that they might use. There might be 20-30 programmed rules that scan the LSAC CAS data, which spits out some index number. Then the admissions people use that to decide JS1 requests.mrgstephe wrote:As someone on the other side (GPA well above median, LSAT below), I can also confirmhaley12 wrote:^^ same hereunrelated wrote:I can tell you that at this moment, this part of your hypothesis is inaccurate. Very reliable source.dhbiv wrote:
I think Harvard probably has some generic algorithm with some rules that spits out who gets JS1s. Maybe something like:
Anyone with at least one number over a median, JS1 invite.
One rule might be "anyone with at least one number above median, JS1"
Rule 2: URM with XXX stats, JS1
Rule 3, Numbers X amount below median, but X years work experience, JS1
Rule 4: People with masters degrees and X numbers
etc, etc etc.
These are probably not the actual rules, but some of the logic Harvard might apply; I wouldn't be surprised if the JS1 process was highly automated and computerized.
Applied Sept, JS1 December, JS2 Feb.
So unless the algorithm includes "reading through all the files and actually putting weight on what they say" (which would make the ones you submitted moot), there's no explanation for my JS2. Or my acceptances at YCC, where I was in a similar position.
Applying to T14 is a holistic process.

Any hope for someone who went complete on 11/30 and still no JS1?

Yeah, I'm GPA<25 but LSAT>75, so I'm not really sure what my chances are. Was kinda hoping to at least get an interview, but it's getting bleak.MrJD2020 wrote:I've been complete since mid-November. I did not, but I'm more than happy to be friends. Tell you what, unless you're going to one of the non-t3 ASWs, then, if I can get a JS2, you can buy me an outrageously expensive cup of coffee in Cambridge.potterotter wrote:Did you find out who I was in real life and all the things I love? What would you say are the chances of an applicant receiving a JS1 four weeks after going complete?
Heard a consultant say that for schools that interview, if you don't hear back within four weeks since going complete (i.e. me), then there's something that's holding your app back.
Most applicants who get accepted in the end get JS1 invite within 4 weeks of going complete, right?
I just want to be realistic and move on with my life... thanks in advance

I think Harvard would admit any Artificial Intelligence that could score a 178 and write a coherent personal statement. Robot might just be the highest priority URM, especially if it was interested in possible constitutional foundations for robot rights.mm2368 wrote:those people are probably robots who haven't been able to talk since "the accident".

No JS2 (yet) but I received my JS1 invite exactly two months after going complete. My completion date was right before the holidays, though, so that may have delayed things.alpinespring wrote:Given your understanding/knowledge of the spreadsheet...Pozzo wrote:Going through last year's spreadsheet because I'm a data nerd and a sadist. 186 JS1s on there, minus 41 who never updated past "Decision Pending" leaves 145. It's either this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tXMXyIe4jYM
Or https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x-pr_cmbq44&t=2678s
I can't remember which of these two, but it should appear in the part where he talks about red flags in your application.
But then again people got JS1'S 2 months after going complete so I don't think he was referring to HLS specifically.

Those remarks don't make sense unless he's referring to people applying late cycle or to non-top schools. For those of the t6 that do lots of interviews (HCC), no invitations were sent out until november. Apps opened in early September (August for Chicago).alpinespring wrote:Well I got that 4-week time frame from one of the Webinars the consultant did with an LSAT prep company.appind wrote:can you elaborate on source or how true bolded is?alpinespring wrote:Given your understanding/knowledge of the spreadsheet...Pozzo wrote:Going through last year's spreadsheet because I'm a data nerd and a sadist. 186 JS1s on there, minus 41 who never updated past "Decision Pending" leaves 145. i couldn't find reference to where in these recordings the consultants mention 4-week window or being held back. even for the limited set of late-applications to H, i hope it's not typically true.curry1 wrote:Those remarks don't make sense unless he's referring to people applying late cycle or to non-top schools. there are always going to be exceptions, but i think a large number of late application to H can get JS1 after 4 week window. true?
