Did not receive the e-mail... but I did send a LOCI of some sort a few weeks ago ... So I don't know if that has anything to do with itacadec wrote:I haven't. All right: I'm that guy. I called. They said emphatically that this is not a hold email, but just a courtesy to those who submitted early to let us know they have not forgotten about us.
Also, this IS the time to submit another LOR or supplemental essay if you did not write a "Why Mich," according to the person with whom I spoke.
Okay, who's buying drinks for me for taking the plunge and calling?

I got the e-mail and am not reading into it at all. As others have said, they're up against their deadline for many candidates and probably wanted to avoid a bunch of phone calls from worried candidates. Also, I'm sure they're somewhat interested in seeing if this will make their jobs easier by having some people decide to go in another direction and drop out.
Dean Z seems like a very friendly person who understands the pressure of the admissions process and just wanted to let some candidates breathe a little bit. Certainly not taking this as a hold.

Is anyone willing to share stats and complete dates and say whether they received the e-mail or not? Trying to see if there is a common thread or not

I submitted 11/22 and have not received an e-mail. Religiously check my status however. I have not hear back from a single school I have applied to and all of them I applied to on the 22nd of Nov or earlier.
Stats= 3.99 and 174
Anyone else apply around the 22nd to programs and still in radio silence to them all??

Yeah, there were a few 12/7 status checkers that got the email...I got mine about a month earlier and haven't received the email. Which either means that we're headed for acceptances soon, or we're about to get WLed/dinged, or that we just didn't get the email for some other reason and we're all reading way too much into this.Mr. Somebody wrote:Campagnolo wrote:All right: I'm that guy. I just wished other schools sent out emails like this too, I thought it was really considerate.

Obviously, the dates don't matter at all. The overwhelming majority received the e-mail...but of those who didn't... the majority are strong candidates..... but the majority of those who received the e-mail are strong candidates

This is one of the problems with collecting data on TLS. The majority of folks here are strong applicants.msblaw89 wrote:Obviously, the dates don't matter at all. Perhaps this justifies another phone call? Maybe if we show them this spreadsheet and force them to admit the e-mail was not equally applied then they will have no choice but to give us a decision on the spot....
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
