Re: GULC Waiting Thread
Does getting an interview offer any indication of chances of admission? Is it an important factor in being admitted for borderline applicants? I would have to delay my flight back to school and miss my first and second days of classes to do the interview. Is it worth it? If it is, I will do it.
I applied way back on October 31 and just today got the group interview request (to be held at the law school)
Stats aren't great...mid 3.8/165 (retook the LSAT this month though)

I would take the interview if you think you'll do well in one. It can only help your application. Maybe you can ask to have a phone/alum interview instead? I'm sure if you called/emailed admissions and explained the situation they would try and work with you...?iwanta170 wrote:Does getting an interview offer any indication of chances of admission? Definitely do the interview with those numbers...they don't ask everyone. They want to see what more you can offer them because your numbers aren't going to do much for their medians. I believe I heard that 75% of people who interview get in.....I could be wrong though because I think I read it ITT. Still....do it.
This gives me hopeeee. I hope I get an interview!

I don't really know if it would help or hurt your chances, but being borderline I would definitely do it if you really want a T14.iwanta170 wrote:Does getting an interview offer any indication of chances of admission? The first two days of classes are largely irrelevant, especially since your grades don't really matter anymore. The chance of even a slight bump from interviewing greatly outweighs missing those days.

11/22 --> 11/24 --> 12/3 --> 12/16-->12/21
Applied as "Both" updated to "Full-Time" on 12/16.
*sigh*
I really wish that this status checker actually told us anything other than "SOMETHING CHANGED!"

Re: GULC Waiting Thread
Thanks everyone-I just rescheduled my flight and am doing the interview. Has anyone here done one before and can weigh in on what it's like and what they ask? I imagine we won't get to say much if there are 8-15 of us in an one-hour time slot

Also update to complete 12/21. Any chance we'll actually hear something before Christmas?

I highly doubt they are sending anything out until next year when they reopen on the 4th. Considering they are opening on Tuesday, it may not be until the 10th that the next decisions come out.Evrydyhonestliar wrote:Also update to complete 12/21. Re: GULC Waiting Thread
I broke the mold on that one, 3.37 (3.39 LSAC)/167. I'm way under-qualified compared to the other interviewees.RJ127 wrote:Hmm, seems like the group interview requestees all have very similar stats, 3.8-3.9/168-169. Hope you guys all kill your interviews.
Sorry if this has already been covered on this thread, but to whoever's done a group interview (with Andy or otherwise), what was it like? It seems like the one-on-ones are pretty casual conversation, is it about the same?

Thanks...it's my first. It feels good
Especially since some people on this board said it wouldn't happen with my stats
Confirmed my belief that some people on this board are a bit too pessimistic.

Do you understand what outliers are?FutureInLaw wrote:Thanks...it's my first. It feels good

It really isn't pessimistic to tell a 3.7/167/non-URM they are out at GULC, it is going to be true nine times out of ten.

Depends. I got an interview with a 162 LSAT and 3.85 GPA, but I'm a Georgetown grad (undergrad). I was expecting a total rejection, so who knows... you may be surprised. Hang in there.Gotti wrote:I guess there's no hope for an interview with my lil old 164 with >>>>75% GPA huh

Yes, I'm well aware of the concept of an outlier. I'm also well aware that being told your chances are "none" doesn't leave much room for the possibility of an outlier acceptance. I think people on this board are too quick to dismiss people's chances when they lie above 25th percentiles. But I guess that's to be expected when you have no awareness of one's PS, DS, LOR, and softs. You base it strictly on numbers.

Those are my stats (3.7, 167), and I just got in as well. Maybe it's dependent on when you apply in the cycle.bk187 wrote:Do you understand what outliers are?FutureInLaw wrote:Thanks...it's my first. It feels good
