Any chance I can use this to get more aid from Georgetown?

By the way, would it seem too ungrateful to ask for even more when they have already increased my aid once?

Go for it.parkys77 wrote:Got a scholly bump after asking for more aid. Cornell decided to give me 7k/year.

You planning on Gtown? What are your other options mate?Rlabo wrote:Bumped from 10k to 12.5k a year. Not sure how I feel about this as sure it's nice to have 7 grand back in my pocket, but its not exactly a game changer.

Fordham at 1/3rd the cost, Cardozo for free, off the WL at penn if possible. Worth noting I'm an new yorker and plan on working here so Fordham for around 60 grand total isnt bad, but gulc would be awesome. Its just freakin' expensive compared to other options.Bfalcon wrote:You planning on Gtown? What are your other options mate?Rlabo wrote:Bumped from 10k to 12.5k a year. Check. Good luck on the penn WL. Gtown is definitely expensive, even with that scholly. That's a hard tossup given your new york ambitions! Will Fordham up that scholly at all?Rlabo wrote:Fordham at 1/3rd the cost, Cardozo for free, off the WL at penn if possible. I wish, I already asked. 30's their ceiling besides for a few full rides which have already been given out. The head of financial aid came to speak to the pre-law society at my UG AFTER she had turned me down for more money so that was a fun event as I'm a pretty active member. I would pay sticker for Penn and columbia, not sure about other schools I'm WL but wouldnt rule em out either.Bfalcon wrote:Check. Good luck on the penn WL. I would pay sticker for most of the T14s (maybe even all, but that's because I'm confident of my ability to land a job). Did the lady try to avoid you at all? That's too bad about their ceiling. You might be able to still try and leverage if you get in off the WL at another school, or get something with money (like Vandy or Texas with $$$).Rlabo wrote: I wish, I already asked. 30's their ceiling besides for a few full rides which have already been given out. Haha no I didn't introduce myself till after the event and she said something along the lines of "Oh, I'm sorry I had to deny you." to which I answered "Don't worry, Your not the first. I don't take it personally." We both laughed.Bfalcon wrote:I would pay sticker for most of the T14s (maybe even all, but that's because I'm confident of my ability to land a job). Damn, that's totally nuts. You could try taking the 90K to Gtown and and see if they'll bump you up...?Rlabo wrote:Haha no I didn't introduce myself till after the event and she said something along the lines of "Oh, I'm sorry I had to deny you." to which I answered "Don't worry, Your not the first. I already had 90K each from vandy and ucla and they didn't budge. Pretty sure its not changing, but I guess never say never.
Withdrew from Vandy and UCLA already (just too far from home and my target market) plus those were the offers i used to get 30K in the first place, Cest La VieBfalcon wrote:Damn, that's totally nuts. True story mate, hopefully you get in off a waitlist somewhere and can use that to leverage more. What's your planned school of attendance as of today?Rlabo wrote:Withdrew from Vandy and UCLA already (just too far from home and my target market) plus those were the offers i used to get 30K in the first place, Cest La VieBfalcon wrote: Damn, that's totally nuts. Thanks man. Giving myself till the 3rd (second deposit date) to make a final decision, but I'm leaning towards Georgetown. And what are your plans?Bfalcon wrote:True story mate, hopefully you get in off a waitlist somewhere and can use that to leverage more. Georgetown for me mate. I'm pretty involved in government stuff as is, so DC is the city to be in. I've got a pretty decent scholly from them, so I'm looking forward to this! Let me know what you decide!Rlabo wrote:Thanks man. Giving myself till the 3rd (second deposit date) to make a final decision, but I'm leaning towards Georgetown. Not quite. I got that change, and then was informed that the class was full shortly after. I did get in off the WL a couple weeks later. It's definitely a good sign!TheMostDangerousLG wrote:Still no decision, but country just changed to USA.. is that a sure thing?

How solid we talking? I thought they only gave out like 4 of those a year?TheMostDangerousLG wrote:Woops, posted on the wrong thread. Just informed the waitlisters that I got in (should I feel like an ass? I feel like an ass.. I'm on enough waitlists to know their pain).
Anyway, yeah: just got in, and with a pretty solid scholarship (particularly given how late in the season it is). Quite excited.
Not that solid! I don't want to list the amount in case it would be an identifying factor for any admissions people browsing, but it would cover a substantial chunk of tuition.BigZuck wrote:How solid we talking?
