I just got the 'held for further review' as well.
There are some LSNers who have stats near mine that were already rejected, so I guess I'll take what I can get.
Does anyone know what the deal is with being held for further review on the status checker? Time frame? Is this good or bad? Anything
I think its good in that you aren't rejected, and since you likely have somewhat lower numbers, there was something that the adcomms liked. I have no idea about time frame. A couple of pages back someone said that it does not mean waitlist, but rather that your application will be given to another committee to review. If you do happen to call for more information, I'd love to know what you hear...

I also got the "File reviewed. Held for further review." I have a 160/3.83. Does anyone with similar numbers also have this message? My LSAT score is low for them, but my GPA might keep me in the running.

I think UGA is playing the rankings game... holding reverse-splitter apps and trying to get as many people with 164+ as possible before making decisions on them.

I am, depending on how much $$$ they throw my way and what Duke/Vandy/UVA have to say.

Sent my application. All I ask is that UGA hold/waitlist me until after my February LSAT. Considering that they seem to be accepting almost everyone with a 164+ and a pulse this cycle (and I think I can raise my 162 to at least a 165), it would be very much appreciated. Please, like my WE enough to waitlist me, UGA!

For those interested:
Applied 11/24--Received Status Checker (and complete?) 12/02--Accepted 12/04
Stats: 169, 2.8x
Having never been to the south I really won't have a good idea of Georgia's appeal to me until I visit. The weather sounds great and Athens sounds like a cool city. If I receive a decent scholarship I will certainly give the school a hard look. I wouldn't say I'm leaning towards it at this point, as I have sent out 13 applications and will probably send out a few more, but I wouldn't have applied (even with my fee waiver) if my initial look at the school didn't give me a great impression.
Good luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet!

I'm a splitter. Don't want to post exact numbers, but my LSAT > their 75th percentile and my GPA < their 25th percentile.
UGA is one of my top choices. Hope to see some of y'all down there.

This would seem to be a good year to bump their stats if that is what they are trying to do. They are a GREAT value compared to the other T1 schools, so I think they could get a lot of apps with good LSAT/GPA stats considering the economy this year.

I'm really glad UGA seems to be going with a splitter strategy this year. Mostly because I think I can get my LSAT to where it needs to be in February. Please don't reject me before then, UGA! I <3 you!

Thinking about it, without an acceptance to my T14 (+Vandy) schools it'll be in my top 3.

UGA is the only one of my five apps to hear from but it's a top three for me. Unless Emory gives me a ton of $ (doubtful) or if I get into Texas (again, doubtful) it looks like UGA for me! I work at a firm in Atlanta and A LOT of people highly recommend the school, so that is a plus.

Yeah if I get some money it'll probably be between UGA and UNC. obviously barring a Vandy/Michigan/W&L(w/$) acceptance.

Does UGA's status checker have a "complete" or an "under review" status? Mine has stayed at "Application has been received" since I applied, but the date just updated yesterday.

I would say UGA's definitely in my Top 3 realistic choices...
However, like almost everyone else, if something surprising happens that could all change

if only we could both have my LSAT and your GPA ... Duke would have taken both of us by now and we'd be on our way to Durham!!
