A friend of mine got her decision the day after getting her status checker.

Guess our files are all close together in the pile though.
Yeah, the GPA thing is kinda scary. I had a friend dinged with a 171 LSAT and a 3.1 or so. Mine is under 3.6 but hoping my LSAT carries me through...hhg wrote:emrose wrote:+1... same here... submitted 10/31, got the email 11/4. all the denials are making me nervous... my gpa is below 3.6, but it's from a school that is known for (pretty severely) deflating grades. here's to hoping that i have reason to have hope!

Whatever anxiety you guys are feeling, just know that it will be 100x worse at this time next year when you look at the calendar and realize it's three weeks until your first law school finals.jgulia45 wrote:ugh...scratch that...looks like i'm going to be waiting until mid next week...miami.. wrote:11/02
I can deal with finals; it's the uncertainty of not knowing when the decision might roll in that kills me. If they had a better grasp on the queueing theory and could tell me the day I should expect my decision, then I would be much calmer. Thats the way it would be if I ran a school's admissions process.JazzOne wrote:Whatever anxiety you guys are feeling, just know that it will be 100x worse at this time next year when you look at the calendar and realize it's three weeks until your first law school finals.jgulia45 wrote:ugh...scratch that...looks like i'm going to be waiting until mid next week...miami.. wrote:11/02
Perhaps we should start our own monopoly on law school students applications similar to LSDAS and charge applicants to ease their anxiety and tell them exactly when they will be contacted w/ decision.Jericwithers wrote:I can deal with finals; it's the uncertainty of not knowing when the decision might roll in that kills me. Grades for finals might not come out until February. Trust me, it's much worse. lolJericwithers wrote:I can deal with finals; it's the uncertainty of not knowing when the decision might roll in that kills me. I see alot of profit potential for something like this. However, gaining access to the inner-workings of even just the top 20 law school's admissions processes appears to be a daunting task. If we could figure out a way to do that, I think we'd be in business. I'll still just hold on to this idea for when I'm dean, and use it to bring Texas into the top 10Perhaps we should start our own monopoly on law school students applications similar to LSDAS and charge applicants to ease their anxiety and tell them exactly when they will be contacted w/ decision.
I'm in the same boat. I even went to sign up for my own status checker and it still denies me access. This thread is killing me haha.Jericwithers wrote:I'm in the exact same position as you. just fyi, in addition to lsat, gpa does play into merit scholarships. i was in 10/26 (first day of acceptances, i believe) with 175+ and gpa on the low side and have yet to hear about scholarships. unless, that is, mine got lost in the mail, which would be great.crackberry wrote:You should get scholarship information soon via regular mail (if applicable). The way it looks right now, a 168-169 will get you $7,000 per year, 170 will get you $9,500 per year and 172+ will get you $12,000 per year. This is all on top of the in-state tuition rate, which you will be offered if you get a merit scholarship. Sorry this is confusing, but if you scroll back on this thread, it will make more sense.

I sent them an addendum after I was held over, and it worked out very well for me. However, I don't remember the school being so adamant about asking students not to contact the admissions office last year. They seemed to welcome my additional materials, but things might be different this year. If they asked you not to call, it's probably best not to.TXDeac wrote:So here's a question guys:
UT's application was the first app I submitted, and I was in a bit of a hurry to get it out as soon as I could. As such, I didn't do the optional essay. Now that they've decided to hold me over for Regular Decision, I'm wondering if I should contact them and ask if I can submit additional material (optional essays) to my file.
Does anyone think this is a good idea? They keep saying not to contact them in their e-mails, and I hesitate to frustrate them by calling/e-mailing, etc. That said, UT is one of my top choices, and I feel I should impress that upon them.
Thanks for any advice in advance!
That was a quick turnaround for you. When did you get the status check e-mail?rogerlodge wrote:Applied 10/29, Phone call 11/9, Packet today, No scholarship info yet 171, 3.6 out of state. Seems like some people with very similar numbers were dings and people with similar numbers got scholarships.
Now there's a charge.
