so I'm a reapplicant b/c policy school funding/ life stuff (@ Kennedy School now) and was held/ wl last year...every decision came thru email, nothing came thru the mail basically at all. if you check last year's applicant thread you should see that backed upcanafsa wrote:The Columbia website says that admission decisions are solely through the mail. last year they said mail all over their website and it was all by email, so I wouldn't stress too much about itThelaw23 wrote:airwrecka wrote:Updates and interview requests are not decisions. Those will come electronically (status checker/email). Notification of acceptance/denial would come in the mail, though. Do you think they reject over mail too?

that's true...i pulled myself from the wl because of policy school, so i'm not sure what the final admissions decision would have beenProductofUnreality wrote:Same. When do ED applicants find out by? I know they say all ED applicants will have their decisions in December, but historically by when?
I just need to know...

For those who've already interviewed, how long was your interview? I have to ask for time off from work to conduct mine, so knowing the time range would help.

About 20 minutes, so take 30 and have a snack or somethingAssasindowntheavenue wrote:For those who've already interviewed, how long was your interview? I have to ask for time off from work to conduct mine, so knowing the time range would help.

Mine took 30. So I would agree, but maybe take a little more time off (40 mins or so) just in case. Also, if you're like me, you'll want to be logged in and ready to go 10 minutes before your scheduled start time, so make sure to factor that in.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:Will do. Sounds to me like taking an hour might be the safest bet.NotAGolfer wrote:Mine took 30. So I would agree, but maybe take a little more time off (40 mins or so) just in case. What led you to choose Columbia?benwyatt wrote:I like that in your rankings CLS might somehow be ranked even lower than its USNWR rankingproteinshake wrote:checking in! definitely in my top 5.![]()
Also, I'm an incoming 1L this year so feel free to tag me if you've got questions along the way about the application/interview, etc. Later in the year I can tell you about classes and such if you're interested but there is also a thread where upperclassmen regularly answer questions if you're looking for some of that now.

possibly dumb question: in the drop down menu to interview, what is the difference between "admissions interview" and "one on one"?

You want admissions interview - I think the other one is for undergraduates or somethingdietcoke1 wrote:possibly dumb question: in the drop down menu to interview, what is the difference between "admissions interview" and "one on one"?

Re: Columbia c/o 2020 applicants (2016-2017)
So what again is the consensus on interviews? Borderline and schollys? I'm above 75th GPA and at 25th LSAT, so guess that makes me borderline? So if I kill it I could really help myself? It means they are at least considering me I guess, no auto-ding?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
