My initial scholarship came in the packet with the acceptance letter etc.

FWIW, mine was not. I received my acceptance letter at the end of January, and I would expect, based on my other offers, that I'll get at least some kind assistance from BU as well. So they seem to be a little random.

Does anyone know (roughly) how many people are awarded the Public Interest Scholarship?

It's a number that is not published, but, per the ABA 509 report, out of all three years of current students 29 have full-tuition scholarships. So that may tell you roughly the per year full-tuitions, but that is then split between the PI scholly and ED admits.

ETA: this is still all assumption based on ABA numbers

When I got my admit call about a week and a half ago, I was told they would be evaluating and determining PI scholarship in "the next few weeks". My acceptance packet, that came last week, had a letter that basically said the same.

I was accepted last Tuesday and haven't received it yet. The admissions officer that called made it seem like it would arrive by the end of last week. Oh, well. That's snail mail for ya.

I emailed the financial aid office and they said that it basically happens randomly but that everyone would find out about scholarships before the first deposit deadline in April. Hopefully it doesn't end up taking that long.

Got accepted last Monday and got my scholarship offer with my acceptance package yesterday! $90k, which seems to be like the standard that I'm getting from most schools :/
