Mine told me they have only seen my resume.gobears!! wrote:I somewhat felt the same but the interviewer was still really nice/supportive. I just got the sense that they weren't that familiar with my application and I was actually asked about the same experience at two points during the interview--it was just refereed to as a different name. I answered questions thinking that I'd get asked about an experience down the line (because I didn't want to be redundant)...but that never happened.

Mine was similar. It just seemed like she was waiting for a specific answer and I didn't know what it was. Hopefully it's mostly in our heads though.Generally wrote:She just seemed like she hated meHildegard15 wrote:???!! How was it scary??Generally wrote:My interview was scary as hell. Convinced they only offered an interview to intimidate me before a giant rejection.Like no smiling or humor. Was all business. I feel like I answered well enough, but with the context I feel like she hated all I said and is burning my application as we speak. Maybe it's just Chicago culture and I am used to warm friendly Southern pleasantries? WUSTL interview was amazing, then this one 20 minutes later has me down. But hey, I'm in Georgetown

Ha, the admissions staff is really wonderful and friendly in real life.
During the interview, they generally are polite, but don't tend to react much and don't try to put you at ease. A large part of the point is to see whether you can deal with a relatively formal, high-stakes situation. And yeah, a lot of the people in our class (myself included) went out of the interview feeling like they got little/no positive feedback and possibly bombed it--but we're all here.
I seriously would not worry about the interview unless you were, like, actively rude, used a slur, admitted to academic dishonesty, or something else totally egregious.

Maybe I had an unusually nice interviewer, but I had a really pleasant experience! It was a pretty informal chat and the person on the other end was very warm and receptive. Fear not, applicants!

I had this experience last year too. Maybe I'm just used to interviewing, though? I mean it was still an interview and she probably cracked one smile, but it wasn't like her questions were jaded or were trying to trip me up.linguafranca90 wrote:Maybe I had an unusually nice interviewer, but I had a really pleasant experience! FWIW I thought I did awful in the interview.
Relax, y'all, it's over with. Now for that wait....

Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Not having gotten into both, I can say that the cost of living in Chicago is significantly lower than NYC. It makes a huge difference in terms of quality of life and loan burden. I live alone in a nice building within walking distance of anything I might need and about 15 minutes away from the law school. For the same price in NYC I'd at least have a roommate, which ugh.
May seem like a minor point but it is a huge weight off my shoulders.
I also love how small it is, but that can go both ways.
If you come visit you can talk to plenty of students and see if you like the feel. UChicago has a very distinctive vibe and some people just love it here. (I definitely do.) But it's very personal.

Re: Chicago C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
Having not gotten into Columbia the choice was easyGenerally wrote:Kmart I am curious on your take, I am obviously putting the cart before the horse as I am not in to either, but what do you think would be the advantages of Chicago over Columbia? They both seem pretty even in rankings and outcomes, but surely something made you pick Chicago?

That being said, I'd still have chosen UChi (and I'm not just saying that).
Boots spoke to COL and the size of the school. I really like the fact that I know most everyone in our class. It's nice to know that everyone knows you. That could be a bad thing, but if you're not "that guy" or an ass, they won't know you for the wrong reasons. It's just nice to be able to go to an event or something and see familiar faces. I'm sure at other schools with classes double or triple our size it's hard to know everyone.
I also think Chicago is a plainly better city than NY. It's not crowded. It's not dirty. There aren't rats. It's cheaper. Sales tax is the highest in the country and it sucks, but it's nice to not have to pay NYC prices. That being said, if you're not from a city area you'll get a price-jolt; it's still not as big of a jolt as NYC would give.
Ultimately what it comes down to is I want to work in Chicago. I had a better chance to do that here. This is home. This is where I'm comfortable. This is where I want to be. Why waste 3 years in another city if I know I just want to come back?
If you get in - and I hope you do - come talk to me and other students. I think you'll get a feel for the school and you can decide if it's a good fit. If it comes down to Columbia and Chicago, you really don't have a wrong choice. Both are great. I'd choose Chicago, but if you get a bad vibe from us then at least you made an informed decision.
Feel free to pm me or ask anything else. I'm always happy to help. Everyone on here has helped me so much I'm just trying to give back where I can.

Did anyone at the Atlanta LSAC Forum get the name of the Chicago rep?

Do the names Annette Moore or Raegan Butler ring any bells? They do most of the traveling AFAIK.

Hmm. My suggestion would be that if you don't get the info from here, you can call the admissions office and ask.TheProdigal wrote:Coming up blank.
