We (and I'm including the General because he's hearing back this week) should all just go to UVA and be happy in Charlottesville and eat Bodos and go to Carter Mountain Orchard and go to breweries and wineries and stuff.

I think UVA wins the quality of life category. While I really want HYS, UVA is just so freakin' lovely.Generally wrote:I was literally just looking at my schedule to see when I could swing a visit to Charlottesville. I have never been to Virginia, but the area seems similar to the mountains in TN/NC, which are lovely. I have been refreshing status checker like every five minutes today haha. Bit much, but Harvard and UVA were actually the two schools I wanted most when I first started this crazy journey and began studying for the LSAT.doublehoohopeful wrote:We (and I'm including the General because he's hearing back this week) should all just go to UVA and be happy in Charlottesville and eat Bodos and go to Carter Mountain Orchard and go to breweries and wineries and stuff.

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I think it depends on how much you want to bum rides off of people. You could survive at UVA just fine without a car, especially if you live right near North Grounds. Barracks, a shopping center with a Kroger, Harris Teeter, and a bunch of other stuff, is right by the law school. While hauling groceries back would be a pain, it is do-able.benwyatt wrote:Question for you, since you've been around the block there once before:doublehoohopeful wrote:We (and I'm including the General because he's hearing back this week) should all just go to UVA and be happy in Charlottesville and eat Bodos and go to Carter Mountain Orchard and go to breweries and wineries and stuff.
Do I need a car at UVA?
I miss driving and I'd be happy to have one if I go there, but I can't justify the extra expense if it isn't really necessary.
The bus system is also pretty good for hot-spots such as main Grounds and the Corner (the UVA system and the Charlottesville system are free for students).
In my opinion, having my own car will be worth it. I can go to Stone Field (shopping center with a Trader Joe's and a bunch of other stuff), Whole Foods, and any other stuff without having to rely on someone else. I also think it will be fun to be able to offer rides to hiking trails, breweries, wineries, and other fun stuff like that.

No problem. One nice thing is that you won't have to pay those ridiculous NYC parking prices.benwyatt wrote:Thanks, that's pretty much what I expected.
If I go, I'll have to figure out a way to buy a car...

Re: UVA c/o 2019 Applicants (2015-2016)
I'm not retaking - totally complete and there shouldn't be any reason to hold. My guess (or maybe just my hope...) is just that I'm further down the stack of apps.
gobears!! wrote:If you indicated on your app that you will be retaking, I am pretty sure they will just hold you until then. I could be blowing steam, but that is what some other schools do.jettison63 wrote:tflan19 wrote:I'm still pending review! I submitted yesterday around 7:30 Eastern

Okay, at least I'm not alone in this pending review fun
Submitted yesterday--right about this time actually, slightly later.
