The more I find out about Ann Arbor, the fact that it places well in the Midwest, transnational law is a required class, nuggetry, and handsigned letters from deans.basedvulpes wrote:What has precipitated this steady build?fips tedora wrote:The hype for this school is building steadily.

The fact that transnational law is required is such a negative for me.

They just changed the req. courses for entering students. Trans. Nat. will not be required. You will instead have an elective of your choice your second semester. So if you want to take trans. nat., you can.slippin_jimmy wrote:fips tedora wrote:basedvulpes wrote:The fact that transnational law is required is such a negative for me.fips tedora wrote:The hype for this school is building steadily.

Re: Michigan Law School C/O 2019 Applicants (2015-16)
ehhhh... sorry, this is the current rule change:
International or Comparative Law Distribution Requirement - Students will choose from a list of 2-, 3-, or 4-credit international and comparative law course electives to be taken anytime after the first semester. Such course offerings will include, but are not limited to, Transnational Law.
so you don't have to take Trans Nat, but you will have to take some trans. nat. like course. Here's a list of potential courses:

yeah. most of it won't be directly relevant to anything you will ever do. that said, unless you really know exactly what you want to do, most of what you do in law school won't be relevant (for reals tho..). also, at least from my perspective, a few courses that seem interesting/important include:slippin_jimmy wrote: Thanks. A lot of this is interesting... I just don't know if it'd be relevant.
jurisdiction & choice of law
international IP
international tax
international trade
international crim law
international arbitration
international transactional clinic
the other courses are much more public interest focused - so good if you want to work in that sector
