Waitlisted today.
Anyone know how their waitlist works? Is it ranked? Do people usually get in off the waitlist? If they do, are there scholarships available?

Anyone know anything about placement into patent law firms in Chicago from UIUC?

It's not a separately tracked number, so I don't know exact numbers but most IP students who wanted IP in Chicago got it.RancidSumo wrote:Anyone know anything about placement into patent law firms in Chicago from UIUC?
IP students have a number of outlets through which to get jobs, so if you're IP and don't get a job, it's prob on you.

Agreed. A lot of our IP classmates didn't even do OCI because they already had offers from IP-specific job fairs. If you are patent bar eligible and want to work in Chicago, UIUC is a pretty solid choice.Chardee_MacDennis wrote:It's not a separately tracked number, so I don't know exact numbers but most IP students who wanted IP in Chicago got it.RancidSumo wrote:Anyone know anything about placement into patent law firms in Chicago from UIUC?

I've got a question for any current students. Do any of the apartments that have been named here allow dogs? Where would you recommend renting for a 1L who will be bringing his lab along?

Multiple folks at The Village have dogs. Not sure about anywhere else, though.RancidSumo wrote:I've got a question for any current students. Do any of the apartments that have been named here allow dogs? Where would you recommend renting for a 1L who will be bringing his lab along?

Has anyone who applied in March heard anything? I'm pushing up against other deposit deadlines and starting to get nervous.

I applied during the first week of March, and I haven't heard anything yet. My application went under review on 4/3/2015. The wait is killing me. I've already withdrawn a few offers.midwestisbest wrote:Has anyone who applied in March heard anything? I'm pushing up against other deposit deadlines and starting to get nervous.

In review as of 4/3. Still no decision as well.

My guess is that 3/15/15 applicants will get response next week by Friday. The last few this cycle have been about 7 and a half weeks, hopefully they're generous.

I don't want to send anyone into a panic, but a classmate of mine did not receive his acceptance until the week BEFORE classes began in August, so don't be surprised if some acceptances take a while. If UIUC is your top choice, a gentle inquiry about your application's status might be warranted. If you have other, better options, however, I urge you to consider them.

I emailed the admissions office last week, and was told, "My best estimate is late this week or early next week." I didn't hear anything late last week, so hopefully this is the week.

I negotiated $15k/year to $30k/year when I went in to speak with admissions during the first week of April. Idk how negotiable they will be this late in the game though, but it's absolutely worth a shot!ithinkfit2 wrote:In yesterday via email. Scholarship was small but It is May. FWIW, I got in with a very nice scholarship (not quite full) week before last. Tried to negotiate up to a full early last week, but was told that they were currently maxed out. Hope that helps someone!
