Ugh. I did update my application with my Sept score so I'm hoping that's what's causing the delay right now. But it seems like there were some people on LSN who had similar numbers and submitted early and got accepted 3 months later so... Maybe it's not too hopeless.

I've also noticed that a lot of the admits interviewed with a different person than I did. Part of me wants to attribute the delay to that. I suspect there's a different reason, though.

I just got offered a formal interview with Josh Black. What's the deal with that? I thought UVA's style was to call unannounced to do a brief YP interview and accept?

That's how they've done it all cycle. I interviewed with him so feel free to PM me for details.

It was a pretty relaxed interview.
I got a call from him about twenty minutes afterwards telling me I was in.

While I didnt interview with Josh Black, UVA did contact me via email and asked when I was available. It wasn't unannounced.

I get the impression that these interviews for high-stat candidates are for YP purposes. If one has high stats, wrote a Why UVA, and hasn't yet gotten an interview (~two weeks after completion) which is most probable: (a) that the person in question has been YP, (b) that the person in question will soon be accepted without interview, or (c) that the committee is still taking its sweet time.

Interviewed mid-Sept, haven't heard anything back. At both 75ths. Pretty sure I'll be a ding or a waitlist.

Exact same informal thing happened to me. I was admitted the Monday after the Friday I interviewed.

It was mostly why UVA/pitching UVA and then a few questions specific to my resume. It was only about 20 mins long.
