Has anyone who interviewed with J. Black been admitted yet?

How does the interview process differ this year?

That's how they've done it all cycle. I interviewed with him so feel free to PM me for details.Seoulless wrote:I just got offered a formal interview with Josh Black. What's the deal with that? I thought UVA's style was to call unannounced to do a brief YP interview and accept?

I was, by status checker, no phone call or e-mail. Why, has it been a bad sign?NoLieAbility wrote:So, after two other people PMed me, all with good stats and all waiting for a response, I figured it might be worth it to ask...NoLieAbility wrote:I've also noticed that a lot of the admits interviewed with a different person than I did. He interviewed me as well.
It was a pretty relaxed interview.
I got a call from him about twenty minutes afterwards telling me I was in.

Have any internationals been getting called to do phone interviews? Or would they set up something on Skype instead?

While I didnt interview with Josh Black, UVA did contact me via email and asked when I was available. It wasn't unannounced.Seoulless wrote:I just got offered a formal interview with Josh Black. Did any of the interviews have hard hitting questions or just why law/why uva?

What is the likelihood of getting interviewed and then get rejected?

I get the impression that these interviews for high-stat candidates are for YP purposes. If one has high stats, wrote a Why UVA, and hasn't yet gotten an interview (~two weeks after completion) which is most probable: (a) that the person in question has been YP, (b) that the person in question will soon be accepted without interview, or (c) that the committee is still taking its sweet time.

Curious too. For those who did not get interviewed by were admitted:DetroitRed wrote:I get the impression that these interviews for high-stat candidates are for YP purposes. 1) What were your stats, if you don't want to give numbers speak in terms of percentile with some detail (WAY ABOVE 75th).
2) Did you write a Why UVA in some capacity or another (an actual why UVA addendum, discussion of why UVA in your ps etc..)

I'm above both 75ths, but just barely, & wrote a Why UVA.Seoulless wrote:Curious too. Finished my interview with J. Black today! It was really relaxed and comfortable. Now, I just need to hear back! What's the longest someone had to wait to hear back after an interview with him? Also does anyone know someone who was interviewed and then not accepted?

Was the format
1) why law
2) why uva
3) questions
4) they pitch UVA to you.

Interviewed mid-Sept, haven't heard anything back. At both 75ths. Pretty sure I'll be a ding or a waitlist.ALegalMind_26 wrote:Finished my interview with J. Black today! Re: UVA c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
Got a weirdly informal email today from Grace Cleveland, Director of Admissions asking to "talk about my application to UVa Law." She said over the phone or Skype.
Is this similar to what others received, or was your interview invite more official-ish sounding? Am I looking at a possible YP ding? I am above the LSAT 75th but in the middle GPA-wise.
This is just kinda weird, namsayin?

Exact same informal thing happened to me. I was admitted the Monday after the Friday I interviewed.sneezus wrote:Got a weirdly informal email today from Grace Cleveland, Director of Admissions asking to "talk about my application to UVa Law." She said over the phone or Skype.

It was mostly why UVA/pitching UVA and then a few questions specific to my resume. It was only about 20 mins long.
