Browsing through the Facebook group of admits, it seems that the vast majority are Texas residents or have strong Texas ties. There are a couple that may be non-residents.

Also, the group only has 12 members, two of which are admissions staff, so no reason to worry.

I wish the thing weren't through Facebook. I have co-workers I am friends with on there and I am trying to keep leaving for law school on the DL until I need to give notice...

Most FB groups for admitted students are secret groups so no one else would know you were in it. Is the Texas one not?

This one is a "closed group" which apparently means "Anyone can find the group and see who's in it. Only members can see posts"

I suppose I could weed out my co-workers and put them on super restricted settings so they can't actually see anything on my page but I don't know if that means they can't see my groups...also that's a lot of effort for a facebook group...

Eh I'll be okay I'm assuming the put the updates and important deadlines elsewhere on their website too

I did a quick test to see if I could find it. I could. Although they don't use like UT Law or University of Texas Law, so it requires some actual knowledge of the title to find it.

Create an alt who is totally locked down privacy-wise (like doesn't even show up in searches) but gets email messages for alert and then join that way.

Although that does hinder your classmate's ability to stalk you if you don't completely transfer over your current profile, although I'd imagine there's a chrome extension for that.

You just have to request to join (source, it gives me the option to join the group).

Got denied this morning via an update on the application status page. Oh, well! Texas was my long-shot school anyway with a 165 and 2.96 and out of state.

173/3.9, but I have an LSDAS gpa of 2.9 because I first tried college a few years ago and just whiffed (I'm older).

I'm surprised they dinged you so early with a 173, 2.9 LSDAS GPA or not. Especially since you've probably got plenty of work experience being a little older.
Doesn't bode well for the rest of us..
