Have any non-residents been admitted?

Re: University of Texas C/O 18 Applicants
Browsing through the Facebook group of admits, it seems that the vast majority are Texas residents or have strong Texas ties. There are a couple that may be non-residents.NoLieAbility wrote:Have any non-residents been admitted?
Also, the group only has 12 members, two of which are admissions staff, so no reason to worry.

I wish the thing weren't through Facebook. I have co-workers I am friends with on there and I am trying to keep leaving for law school on the DL until I need to give notice...

Most FB groups for admitted students are secret groups so no one else would know you were in it. Is the Texas one not?ChemEng1642 wrote:I wish the thing weren't through Facebook. This one is a "closed group" which apparently means "Anyone can find the group and see who's in it. Only members can see posts"hillz wrote:Most FB groups for admitted students are secret groups so no one else would know you were in it. I suppose I could weed out my co-workers and put them on super restricted settings so they can't actually see anything on my page but I don't know if that means they can't see my groups...also that's a lot of effort for a facebook group...

I did a quick test to see if I could find it. I could. Although they don't use like UT Law or University of Texas Law, so it requires some actual knowledge of the title to find it.
Congrats C/O 2018'ers!
Also, I seem to know like 4 of those of you in the 2018 group already.

Create an alt who is totally locked down privacy-wise (like doesn't even show up in searches) but gets email messages for alert and then join that way.

Although that does hinder your classmate's ability to stalk you if you don't completely transfer over your current profile, although I'd imagine there's a chrome extension for that.BVest wrote:Create an alt who is totally locked down privacy-wise (like doesn't even show up in searches) but gets email messages for alert and then join that way.

Any chance you would be willing to share the name of this group? I would love to creepAttax wrote:I did a quick test to see if I could find it. I could. Although they don't use like UT Law or University of Texas Law, so it requires some actual knowledge of the title to find it.

You just have to request to join (source, it gives me the option to join the group).ChemEng1642 wrote:also I'd have to get UT to invite my alt to that group right? Guess what? Reconsideration request sent 11/5, reviewed this week, accepted today. Got a voicemail on my US number from Dean Ingram, and the Facebook invites from Mr. Riley this afternoon.

Congrats!
Also, a friend in SROC told me they're making calls as well to admitted students.

Got denied this morning via an update on the application status page. Oh, well! Texas was my long-shot school anyway with a 165 and 2.96 and out of state.

Dinged via 8:40am EST email. The status page was changed to say denied, too, when I checked. It was never close to a top choice, but rejections suck.

173/3.9, but I have an LSDAS gpa of 2.9 because I first tried college a few years ago and just whiffed (I'm older).IsThisForReal wrote:Can I get your numbers please? PM if necessary. Much appreciated.NimChimpsky wrote:I was RD.IsThisForReal wrote:You were both ED?

I'm surprised they dinged you so early with a 173, 2.9 LSDAS GPA or not. Especially since you've probably got plenty of work experience being a little older.
Doesn't bode well for the rest of us..
